My esteem for Pedro Pascal grows ever greater.

PL folks: Steve claims there it's been 10 years since we've had interesting new languages. Please provide counterarguments.

Plus, platforms like @ghost.org, @buttondown.com, and @wordpress.org embracing open social protocols means they'll have the "native" discovery aspect of Substack, too. The difference is that their implementation won't be in a silo, it'll be across platforms, and you'll own your audience completely.

I just learned about the Freedom House Ambulance Service from watching 'The Pitt'. This is some fascinating American history. #medsky #blackhistorymonth #thepitt #tvsky📺

How do academics, and perhaps more importantly PhD students keep themselves informed on workshops and where to submit early work for feedback? Are there things you look at, follow, subscribe to? Mostly asking to get a feel to how it's compared to roughly 20 years ago. #academia

If ONLY there was a feminist with a huge platform who could share it? Too busy fawning over Trump petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

Okay, so like doing things in Racket might have been a pain, but damn, the code looks a lot nicer than whatever tikzpicture abomination I would have conjured to create this~ Also viola >w< my research portfolio~ Would you give this trans gal a faculty position? uwu?

Black History Month hits different this year. Artist Jonathan Harris saw it coming.

#TIL ‘urchin’ is the archaic term for hedgehog. I love it. I’m to start calling them ‘land-urchins’. 🦔🦔🦔

Fun image of showing Racket and Chez from 2018 The layer sizes are still pretty accurate - but some are a little bigger - e.g. rumble is now 20k From https://blog.racket-lang.org/2018/01/racket-on-chez-status.html
