I've said a few times I don't think Musk is ever going to make it to Mars. It's always been more gut than technical knowledge, but the technical isn't refuting me yet. www.planetearthandbeyond.co/p/starship-w...

You may not recognize it at first, but life in this country will never be the same if people stop coming from abroad because they are not guaranteed protection under the law. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/16/u...

A lunar eclipse, viewed from a lunar conference (or at least the conference-designated bar) #LPSC2025

New post by me for @skyandtelescope.bsky.social : First spacecraft thermal images of Mercury from BepiColombo MERTIS shown at #LPSC2025 skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-ne...

Some of the art I did for the #LPSC2025 art wall!

What the Keck

“America is deeply unprofitable” it’s a country not a B2B startup you fucking dweeb

**This would end space science as we know it.** I’d probably be out of a job. Successful ongoing missions would be turned off. Future missions would be axed. Some research centers (NASA & non-NASA) would likely dissolve.

What would Deimos look like to an astronaut in space around Mars? None of Hera's instruments are equivalent to the naked human eye, but here is the science team's first attempt. The 'saddle' between two peaks of Deimos shows up as a shadow

🚨BREAKING SPACE NEWS🚀 Hera, ESA's planetary defense spacecraft heading to the asteroid Dimorphos (the one DART smashed into), flew by Mars yesterday for a gravity assist and to test its cameras. It took images of Mars and the moon Deimos up close. AND THEY ARE AMAZING 🤩

I'm unfortunately guilty of this 😭

Manifesting good energy at #LPSC2025

NEW: Saturn now has a ridiculous number of moons: 274. But this splurge of satellites is just one part of the story. What's cooler, imo, is they record a saga of moon-on-moon violence that's been going on for billions of years! Me, for NatGeo 👇 www.nationalgeographic.com/science/arti...

It’s weird watching your scientific field be dismantled in such small detail that it’s hard to explain to the public why the things that are happening matter

NASA has disbanded its Planetary Science Advisory Committee, together with its other science advisory committees. NASA will constitute a new, Science Mission Directorate-wide advisory committee going forward. Up to now, the planetary Assessment/Analysis Groups reported to the PAC.

If you missed my posters on Tuesday about modeling Mars mud volcanism or revisiting MESSENGER iron XRS data, feel free to send me an email to ask for a copy of the pdf! #LPSPC2025

The art board from #LPSC2025 has some real bangers. Come check it out!!

Here is my first roster of #PridePlanet #LPSC2025 stickers. V3NUS is locked in - a reprise from last year, but I'm happy to crowdsource alt fonts - and additional bodies/planetary themes if people are interested. Reply or DM. I do it out of pocket so support for a bigger run is always appreciated.

i'm on bluesky for the scientific community

Friends of Mercury at #LPSC2025, don't forget to join the Mercury community meeting tonight @ 5-6pm in Grogan's Mill room!

Waterway Ballroom 5. 3:30 pm Central. Possible ancient plate tectonics on Venus. Be there. #LPSC2025

STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO FOCUS ON THE SCIENCE AND THAT WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH HARD TIMES IN THE PAST. THIS IS NOT THAT. JFC

And somehow NASA is the one whose budget is being cut and whose workforce is getting laid off.

There's some science on the #LPSC2025 art board too 😉

It's a packed house for NASA Night at this year's LPSC. With things afire generally and at NASA specifically (see my earlier posts today), it's going to be an interesting town hall.

little displays of kindness on the #LPSC2025 “artistic creations” board
