Declassified spy satellite imagery is a time machine to the past that allows us to visualise change. This image of Luzhou, China taken by a KH-7 GAMBIT on August 15, 1964 is a great example of that. Full image on @soarearth.bsky.social: soar.earth/maps/135404?...

A new image of the International Space Station from another satellite captured by heospace.com 2025-06-14 21:28:56 UTC. The picture has a resolution of 18cm from a distance of 85.77km.

Taken about 19hrs ago, this @umbra.space satellite image highlights how LC-39A is growing into a very different looking complex than LC-39B. spacefromspace.com/satellite-im...

SLC-37 before and after demolition via @umbra.space's SAR satellites. 2025-06-08 15:05:34 UTC & 2025-06-13 02:13:49 UTC. It was some of the coolest looking launch pad ground equipment in my opinion.

Hopefully will have an Umbra SAR capture of the remains soon. Should make for a 'fun' before/after comparison

Sadly this won't happen today like I hoped, but hopefully I'll get another chance soon!

The plugin is now directly available via the official QGIS Plugins page and the plugin manager built into QGIS! plugins.qgis.org/plugins/rast...

It's been a while since I've done a livestream on YouTube. I might aim for tomorrow if my current schedule sticks! We can go over some cool satellite images, look at the new QGIS plugin in action, and just forget about the outside world for a bit. www.youtube.com/@spacefromsp...

A declassified KH-7 GAMBIT spy satellite photo of Khabarovsk, Russia taken on May 20, 1964. πŸ›°οΈπŸ—ΊοΈ

I woke up to see the Howard Hughes express line has continued. Shocked. Anyway. Onto cool things (more imagery, always)

#GISchat if you'd like to try out my 'Raster Blaster' QGIS plugin which greatly speeds up the georeferencing process and creates Cloud-Optimised GeoTIFFs (COGs), please feel free try it now! github.com/harryspacefr... This is my first ever plugin so there may still be errors! πŸ˜…πŸ—ΊοΈ

Keeping an eye on Landspace's Launch Complex 96 at Jiuquan as Zhuque-3 gets closer to launching. A 35cm @umbra.space capture taken 2025-06-03 14:26:27 UTC. @soarearth.bsky.social: soar.earth/maps/134844?...

Later this week I'm hoping to launch my QGIS plugin which uses GDAL to greatly speed up the georeferencing process in QGIS (we're talking 36min down to 2min or less!) I've talked about it more on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/posts/harry-... #GISchat for you πŸ—ΊοΈπŸ›°οΈ

A KH-7 capture of 40 Tu-95's (if I've ID'd them correctly) in 1965. I'm guessing some of these exact aircraft were targets in today's operation by Ukraine. soar.earth/maps/23668?b...

Using Sentinel-2 imagery we can see that Stoke Space appears to have poured the slab for its integration hangar at Launch Complex 14. soar.earth/draw/2232

Last Wednesday the Birchgletscher in the Swiss Alps collapsed, devastating large parts of the village #Blatten and blocking the Lonza river which created a small lake. Thanks to aerial images shared by #swisstopo, I was able to create a 3D model of the area. You can explore it here πŸ‘‰ skfb.ly/pxHLC

This is for Juno ❀️

A few snippets of airfields taken from some GAMBIT images I'm working on at the moment.

New very high resolution satellite imagery shows the current state of construction activity at Launch Complex 39A. Taken 2025-05-27 16:06:15 UTC. And of course, the full resolution interactive copy is up on @soarearth.bsky.social : soar.earth/maps/134648

Finally back to processing some images instead of working on the processing tools 😌 Feels good.

It's nearly ready πŸ‘€ If you're interested in helping test the plugin please feel free to let me know!

Monitoring several launch sites in a single @umbra.space capture. There's a lot of construction activity going on at Cape Canaveral SFS! Just because it's not in the public eye 24/7 doesn't mean it's not happening. 2025-05-26 04:08:38 UTC.

Somewhere down there there's a big rocket about to meet its fate one way or the other (I always feel there are some Lord Farquaad vibes behind these launches). A 50cm @umbra.space capture of Starbase taken just over 10hrs ago (2025-05-26 03:24:08 UTC).
