Left her money to the Clothworkers' Co. Was there family ? Packington Street in Islington. Clothworkers' Arms on the Packington Estate now a private residence and unrecognisable. Ram & Teasel PH also on the Estate now closed. Shame.

The current resident of the Mansion House has Italian Greyhounds. Photo, when Sheriff. When he had his Shrieval Chain presentation at Painters' Hall, the dogs were in attendance.

The Parish Clerk of St Mildred Poultry lives in Lymington. Just saying... :)

Thank you for posting these. I recall that we have chatted before about 'roots'. From which Fenland village was your Mother ? My maternal Grandfather was from Wigginhall St Mary Magdalen. Sadly the Dolphin Inn where my GGfather was, was demolished in the 80s to enable Ouse 'levee' improvement.

Sounds intriguing. I want to take an excursion on Trinity House Vessel Galatea, visiting Light Houses. They take passengers ! I had the opportunity for private Lunch on THV Patricia years ago, while she was in Canary Wharf. I passed the offer. Still kicking myself.

In the early 70s, the son of the Landlord attended Forest School. A minor public school located at the 'posh' end of Walthamstow. #Trivia

Blimey. I never knew. Demolishing a parish church is quite a drastic measure. I wonder what the back-story was.

@westminsterwalks.bsky.social oops. Two pages of notes ! Demolished in 1976.

Thanks. I never knew! Perhaps it was demolished before 1980 when I started driving. Do you know where in S Ave it was located ?

There's a great interview on BBC Breakfast from some years ago on YouTube.

My eyes are fixated on this when I am at the traffic lights at this particular junction.

The hours spent engraving the plate to produce the trade card, would simply not be economically viable these days.

The St Leonard Shoreditch Almshouses are in Myddleton Road Bowes Park / Wood Green. Have been since the 1960s, I believe.

Greetings! I have had cause to dine at Vintners' on a number of occasions over the years, but to be a guest of the Vintners' Company and your Master Edward Berry, when I was Master Hackney Carriage Driver, is truly memorable. You have a song, as do the Parish Clerks ! Go well. SteveP.

The Parish Clerks' earliest Charter is 1442, but by 1274 the Fraternity of St Nicholas was holding property in the Parish of St Ethelberga, Bishopsgate. Now known as Clerks' Place, a pedestrian walkway between Bishopsgate and St Mary Axe EC3.

'Seventy Glorious Years' is a wonderful booklet. I have a cutting from the WF Guardian re Bill Bowstead, the last Mayor of Chingford. Re law courts: I'm thinking Ridgeway Magistrates &/or Crown Court. Likewise Farnan Ave Magistrates &/or Crown Court. I might be mistaken.

I seem to recall that for a period (in the sixties?) there was a Crown Court by Chingford Town Hall. Though I guess that it would have been called an Assizes at that time; the Crown Court Act having not yet been enacted (?). Maybe my memory is playing games.

To celebrate the new Queen. Nice little urn finials.

The Spotted Dog has been derelict for years. It is alleged that due to it being a listed building, the owners want it to simply collapse into a heap, that the site might be redeveloped. Whether that is true or not, I do not know.

I totally 'get' the Jam, & realise that Weller is a true talent, but I never really got into that stuff at all*. The drummer with the Style Council (Steve White) and I had the TWO same drum teachers. There, the similarity ends LoL. He's not driving a Cab :) * I'm jazz/fusion and straight-ahead Jazz.

I have a hunch that he had some sort of connection with the proto Worshipful Company of Musicians, which pre-dates its first Charter of 1500.
