It seems to me that if someone is designing a removal mechanism for the executive to be used by the legislature—a no-confidence motion or impeachment—that it should be a secret ballot on final removal. Pols should not be constrained from punishing malfeasance by party discipline/partisanship.

Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi says she is going against corrupt judges. In case you wonder why she hasn’t gone after the *most* corrupt, Clarence Thomas, there is a professional courtesy between lawyers who take bribes.

Just because 99/100 scientists agree that it's bad to open a portal to the hell dimension doesn't mean we should immediately discount the opposing views of the scientist employed by Open A Portal To The Hell Dimension Inc.

We’re entering the “so much depends on whether the military will disobey orders” phase of authoritarianism. None of this is good and I wish I could say the danger of protesting and mass action isn’t rising. But it is, and yet the time for protecting and mass action is now.

“My simple-minded tariffs have made ‘beautiful’ American goods prohibitively expensive so foreign countries are cancelling orders. THIS IS ALL THEIR FAULT!!!!!!!! WHAAAA! WHAAAA!”

One of my favorites from today's protest.

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops. I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III. Remind you of anyone?

History always has a lesson.

The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit. ICE officers. Cabinet members. White House staffers. Even the president.

True facts are true

MAGA is a virus and we are the nation's immune system. Fight like your life depends on it, because it does.

Disgusting

We are descended from revolutionaries and we do not abide kings.

Oh my god you want me to find "evidence" before putting someone in jail? Every time?? Do you have any idea how long that would take

This has always been the GOP's strategy: 1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves. 2) Explode the deficit. 3) Demand cuts to vital programs that help millions. 4) Repeat. They're trying to get away with it again.

The Fourth Circuit is famously succinct. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Today, millions of Americans learned they are not alone. May this be the seed that grows the courage to take our country back.

If your response to yesterday’s millions of people marching is that they were all paid operatives…you’re desperate, deluded, and scared. And lying.

The Trump admin is dismantling Freedom of Information Act offices. Then the offices send out emails like, “Hello, the FOIA office has been placed on admin leave and is unable to respond to any emails.” The lengths this admin will go to ensure zero transparency with the American people is astounding.

Millions of people took to the streets yesterday to send a message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Even during these dark days, remember that you are not alone. Solidarity.

There it is! 💥💥💥

It seems an estimated 3.5 million people turned out today. I have not heard of a single police officer being threatened. No national or state capitol building was attacked. This was just "We The People," reminding a nation what democracy looks like. Well done, and godspeed. #HandsOff

A story in two parts.

Topeka Kansas turned out!

OMG! Over 1500 people showed up in Anchorage, Alaska to say #HandsOFF our democracy, our veterans, our social security, our schools, our Medicaid, our jobs, our 401Ks and our democracy! #StandUPAlaska

Props to George Soros. Hundreds of thousands of paid protestors yesterday, and yet not a single copy of a check or any evidence of electronic transfers to them.

We’re building a #PeoplesMovement. Today, over 3 million people across the country stood up to say HANDS OFF our democracy.
And history shows that when just 3.5% of the population engages in sustained, peaceful resistance—transformative change is inevitable. #50501movement #HandsOff #April5

Listen if just one asshole can get hundreds of books removed from schools and fuck things up for children all over the country, then millions of Americans all out on the streets at the same time certainly can make a hell of a difference

Spokane showed up for #handsoff, maybe 2k people. The few trumpers looked so sad and fearful even though nobody was messing with them. Of course people like that would be drawn to an authoritarian, they are petrified of the 'other'.

Yesterday was incredible. The official count is in — 5.2 million people joined the #HandsOff protest nationwide. So many are asking: what’s next? Mark your calendars: 4/19 is the next nationwide day of protest.

Tell me again why we’re letting a 78 year old, legit smelly, odorous, frail, loser old man who bankrupted a CASINO bankrupt the country? Congress? Any answers?

To give credit where due, the first family are exceptional scammers.

Ready for Saturday PNW style

Never in my decade of filing FOIA requests have I gotten a response like this. Customs and Border Protection denies my request, saying "Due to law enforcement sensitivities we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of records." No exemption cited, no name of who wrote this.

Friendly reminder for Saturday: Know your rights. Stay peaceful. Be aware. No property damage. The power is in a unified voice—destruction will only steal the spotlight from the message. Change is deserved, so let’s make sure that’s the focus and not chaos. Stay smart, stay strong, get loud.

They have our business!

I strongly believe unrestricted free trade, NAFTA, TPP etc… was/is horrible for workers. But these tariffs are just as bad in the other direction. They are already destroying faith in our economy. Will drive up prices and enable corporate greed. This isn’t America first, it’s working people last.

Yes, the stock market may be tanking and our national security apparatus has never been more vulnerable and we're on the verge of both economic collapse and war, but it was all worth it to keep pronouns out of email signatures.

I hope Wall Street has figured out two things: 1. Trump is a disaster for the U.S. economy. 2. There is no price at which many of us would ever buy a Tesla. I wouldn't take it for free with a $5,000 rebate. I think they have an inkling of the first but are still in denial about the second.
