Another read especially relevant to my current circumstances as a first time mum to a 7 month old, but one I enjoyed and found useful and reassuring. Covers many of the big decisions parents must make in the first year (and beyond) with proper scrutiny of the available data #cribsheet

Aptly, the first book I have read since the birth of my daughter. Really really enjoyed this & it also painstakingly illustrates the current struggles of NHS maternity care, some of which I experienced first hand very recently #hardpushed @leahhazard.bsky.social

Ok it was all fun and games getting an emergency alert in the early evening but getting one at this time in the morning after JUST getting my 6 month old back to sleep after a two and a half hour night wake window starting at 1am??? A true test of my sanity

I was only admitted in the first place thanks to having meconium in my waters once they finally broke! Anyway there’s my wee rant for today. I know there was lots of discussion about #birthtrauma on X, would like to see it here too 🤛

I really do question the push towards “natural birthing” and staying at home for as long as possible. I was a complete green pathway until I wasn’t. If I didn’t get help when I did (if I was attempting a home birth for example or if I was admitted later) I would have died

Lucky the care I received once I was finally admitted was amazing!! But why are women left to labour for days alone at home with no medical support? Then discharged so quickly? Of course it’s lack of funding and resources, but it really is appalling #birthtraumaenquiry
