Five bullet points: šŸ”“ No šŸ”µ One āšŖļø Made šŸ”µ You šŸ”“ King

You have paid Ross Douthat to write this crap continuously since the year of our lord 2009.

What I Accomplished Last Week: 5 Bullet Points for My Boss 1. Pondered the great question of our time (ā€œWho is the administrator of DOGE?????ā€) 2. Read some court filings that did not reveal the DOGE administratorā€™s identity 3. Asked Elon Musk to tell me who the administrator of DOGE is (no reply)

acknowledging the history and existence of black people in america is not dei; it is not diversity; it is describing what is in front of you.

This is the ultimate dick boss move from Musk - except he isnā€™t even the boss, heā€™s just a dick.

No matter how preposterous, the Times headlines nearly every Trump story as if it were written by the White House comms team.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised anymore .... but it still blows my mind how consistently they do PR for Trump. He could literally put Putin in charge of the military and they'd print his press release about it.

BREAKING ā€” States attorneys general lead by @newyorkstateag.bsky.social were just granted a preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. The team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

ā€œThe press and all people in the United States have the right to choose their own words and not be retaliated against by the government,ā€ the AP @apnews.com said in its lawsuit. apnews.com/article/ap-l...

Normally, IRS systems containing taxpayer data are secure and information is locked down, said Amy Oā€™Hara, executive director of the Georgetown University Research Data Center & President of APDU. (Emphasis on "normally.") www.nbcnews.com/business/per...

Instead of huge, screaming headlines like ā€œREPUBLICANS ALLY WITH RUSSIA, ABANDON ALLIESā€ weā€™re seeing ā€œSurprising New Allianceā€ and ā€œTrump Elevates Kremlin Talking Points.ā€ Media outlets are catastrophically incapable of meeting this moment.

Being a fucking idiot has consequences. Unfortunately, theyā€™re for everybody.

There are moments in these deportation fights when I can just FEEL how pissed off they are that Iā€™m Puerto Rican šŸ˜‚ they want to threaten me with it so bad šŸ˜‚

I cannot emphasize enough that the New York City subway is not scary. Itā€™s one of my favorite parts of living here. I grew up in the suburbs having to drive on highways everywhere and thatā€™s way scarier

NYT, folks. Embarrassing shit.

Take note of the messaging - this is both accurate and *deeply* unpopular. It's the kind of thing that forces GOP House members to quietly tell their constituents that they too are concerned about Musk. Make them own this. Make them squirm.

Trump: I AM A KING! NYT: Trump displays a "fondness for regal themes"

Not for nothingā€¦.if you donā€™t want to be there and donā€™t want to work to fight himā€¦.I do and I will.

Still waiting for that torrent of accountability articles promised by @ericlipton.nytimes.com. Instead weā€™re getting articles about Trumpā€™s ā€œfondnessā€ for destroying our democracy. Such a failure.

ā€œThis is an attack on our sovereign identity and our independence from Washington,ā€ New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, vowing to fight Trumpā€™s move to end congestion pricing. Says state has filed suit, is m keeping the programā€™s cameras on

The disturbing part of Trump declaring himself THE KING isn't that he did it, it's that his followers want him to be a king. They've completely abandoned the fundamental precepts of democracy in favor of total centralized control by a new American royal, because they both hate the same people.

This morning, we released our first TiDbit (Topics in Demography) brief of 2025, titled "New York State's Young Adults"! We explore topics such as the spread of adults aged 18-29 across the state, school enrollment, and top occupations. Read more here: pad.human.cornell.edu/TiDbit/TiDbi...

A lot of people now see that Musk is a vile extremist. But many still struggle to accept that he is also an oblivious fool. Once you actually listen to what he has to say about the world, you realize itā€™s all faux-visionary nonsense layered on top of profound ignorance.

above all else the current crop of republicans in congress are the most pathetic cowards to ever serve in washington www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

helluva thread from the hellsite about the comically bad ā€œsavingsā€ doge claims to have found (sorry for the weirdly sized screenshots, I had to squeeze everything into only 4 of them)

Interesting. Here's my alternative take: Kill it with fire.

Yep, DOGE is as incompetent as everyone thought. An $8 million "saving" has been listed as an $8 BILLION saving. That is 14.5% of their total claimed $55 billion in "savings" having been completely made up.

If the Trump Administration as stating on the record that Musk is merely an advisor and not formally part of DOGE, then he has no protection under the supremacy clause or as a govā€™t officer, and state governments should announce criminal charges & arrest warrants ASAP

This is fucking incredible.

"If sometimes wrong" defeats your entire premise here. If you can't reliably determine accuracy you might as well consult a Ouija board to "self learn"

If I'm reading Politico, I want expertise on U.S. politics. Seems pretty simple! This is like someone from WIRED writing that they don't know who Alan Turing is, or what he did. Which, BTW, would never happen.

This is it exactly. Mock these toadies right to their faces.

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow. The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?" When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.
