i will hold onto the fact that he just seems to distinguish between friends and not friends. nothing about them being animals. and he does still think his animal friends look tasty even if he'll never eat them

kirin lore does have them being able to detect someone's guilt so i guess you could twist that into knowing their fears. also it's an interesting choice making a peaceful creature into a celestial dragon. i guess they do have not wanting to touch the ground in common

refreshingly kind of old character writing, though i don't feel like they've backtracked on development or anything. but i do think a lot of this has been planned for a while, before the manga got so sprawling (which is also not a bad thing)

again i think it'd be an interesting reverse of water 7. he'd feel bad if sanji becomes stronger than him, but usopp?? but i think sanji will be involved too, since sanji doesn't want the strength if it comes from his enhancements. idk if oda will do that but would be interesting

it makes sense to be cautious from zoro's pov, and he's never been someone who just listens to luffy- he will with no hesitation if he agrees, but he always challenges him if he doesn't, like in water 7. but there's still something wrong here. he's not usually like this
