We picnicked through another winter! High fives all around.

A big shout out to Derek from Ottawa Police. He was my "liaison" when OPS heard I was supporting the Ukraine protesters. When the convoy crew showed up to confront me Derek said "Oh these are local journalists. You won't need me here anymore." And he tiptoed away. Classic Ottawa police.

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

Maybe we weren’t meant to wake up and read 20 terrible things immediately.

We made it to brassica flower season! The walking stick cabbage plants are flowering first; soon, the tree collards & the kale. These will be sautéed with some oil and balsamic vinegar for dinner tonight. Like broccolini, but more delicious.

This chart of federal voter preference over time is the craziest shift in public opinion I've ever seen.

The appropriate curse for people who oppose changing our streets to make more space for car alternatives: “May you be forever stuck in traffic.” And of course they’re creating that very scenario, by insisting we all should only travel by car, with no quarter given to any other mode.

My innie posed Irving B’s portrait with some fetching corporate wall art.

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has been so overwhelmed by complaints about CBC #CrossCountryFuckUp with Ian Hanomansing, it has had to close the complaints process. @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social

This guy saw us watching him and came right over to give us a little show. Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, BC. #yyj #birds

I don’t really like hot cross buns; I’m going to learn how to play ‘Cinnamon Roll.’

Dog walk with the Merlin app open. The neighbourhood birds are saying that it might be spring.

Takes less than 5min to let CBCs Ombudsman know how you feel about this bit of irresponsible journalism; I did it myself earlier this afternoon. cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/ombudsman...

Canadians: “Please, learn and grow.” Ian Hanomansing: “no ❤️”

It’s nice to see the CBC uniting Canadians.

They’ve already shifted their framing somewhat, but it’s still awful. What are they thinking?

This anti-Poilievre ad played during last nights hockey game. 🔥🔥🔥🇨🇦👍 #cdnpoli #peipoli

Hi #yyjbike! I was curious about Victoria’s street-to-bike-lane ratio, so I downloaded the ‘Streets’ and ‘Bike Lanes’ data files from opendata.victoria.ca. Here’s what those data say.

My lab group is doing a research study on cargo bike users in North America. If you are a cargo bike user and have a minute to take the survey we'd love to hear from you. Or please feel free to share or repost for other cargo bike users. Many thanks! pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

"Let's figure out why men become Nazis" isn't a particularly rewarding game, in my opinion. Yes, everyone has reasons for what they do, but the answer to "why does a white man embrace a political system in which white men alone hold power" is fairly self-evident.

New muted term: 51st. Enough already.

Oops, I was 30 seconds late for the Paul Simon presale.

It's just a bowl of rainwater, but you will need to open the image to see all the falling rain drops... 1/3200 turned out to be the best speed for capturing the rain drops. This is a composite of many photos. I think of it as compressing time into one frame. #photography #rain #water #raindrops

Mapquest is back! Warm memories of my grandpa printing out driving directions for me, then neatly labeling them and putting them in a folder. That was his love language.

Here in #yyj, Crescent near Quimper is a good place to spot a super cool Cybertruck. Also a great place to walk your dog.

Huge levels of contradiction in the B.C. Throne Speech happening now. Phrases like "grow the mining, oil + gas and forestry sectors while protecting land and water." You expect this aggressive cognitive dissonance from conservatives, and it's always wild to hear it parroted by the BCNDP. #bcpoli

Your outie understands when someone is making a joke on the internet and doesn't embarrass themselves in people's replies

I follow French politics a lot, as many of you know. Any effort for mass layoffs of public sector employees there would create such huge strikes and marches, the level of disruption and paralysis would be biblical.

#familybike problems: Our kid has been biked around since infancy by a couple of fairly bold cyclists who go fast and take the lane. Now that she wants to ride more on her own, we’re having to try to reshape her instincts.
