The Internet Archive is the most prominent defense of our cultural history that companies are increasingly seeking to horde total control over. They don't want to cost anyone anything for open access to information, and losing this defender of those rights would be especially devastating now

📢 The Internet Archive needs your help. At a time when information is being rewritten or erased online, a $700 million lawsuit from major record labels threatens to destroy the Wayback Machine. Tell the labels to drop the 78s lawsuit. 👉 Sign our open letter: www.change.org/p/defend-the... 🧵⬇️

Terrified for the future of my Spotify wrapped in the way I should be concerned for my biblical spirit

www.dustinbucher.com/2025/03/05/d... Wrote this yesterday about Digg coming back:

Tapbots teases a new Bluesky app, Phoenix, saying it can’t ‘survive on Mastodon alone’

I will admit to finding the “all problems are caused by evil and we could fix every problem without any trade-offs” worldview pretty draining and immature.

There’s such an increase in distrust of tech companies, we now have to be more explicit about super obvious things that we would never do. Users expect the worst because they’ve been burned. So it goes.

old but gold

Slack is down! Now's our chance. Boot up AOL Instant Messenger and tell everyone this is the new chat. Come on people we've been training for this

It’s getting really sad all the games that are lost media now except for subpar remasters. Nothing makes me feel this more than the Sonic Series

Piracy is a service problem, and so is immigration People don't migrate illegally because they want to break the law—they do it because the 'legal pathways' are too slow, expensive, or unavailable. Better systems and access reduce 'piracy.' Why not apply the same logic to immigration reform? 🤔

Does anyone have any advice for the best way to play Sonic CD in 2024? #Sonic #SonicTheHedgehog #SonicCD

Now that I’ve deleted Facebook, I’m beginning to think those hot single women in my area were lying about wanting to meet me as they’ve not reached out via any other channels.

pro tip: by using a linux phone as your main, you can make sure you do Exciting things while in public transportation, such as debugging bluetooth audio, rather than boring, normie things, such as listening to music

If you can. Choose differently. (Not a possibility for everyone) - Use Linux instead of Windows/MacOS. - Stop using Alphabet/Google, Meta, Microsoft etc. platforms as much as you possibly can. - Build on OpenSource platforms. - Learn how to self-host instead of using cloud. Prepare yourself.

people who don't believe in biblical prophecy and aren't old enough to understand that both Minnesota and Detroit being 12-2 is some flapping wings of apocalypse business smdh

literally any talk about making anything “great again” is infantile mewing. it was never great it was just that you didn’t understand it. except in the case of Bluesky which was totally cool

Why is the Apple Music App for iPad like that? It’s not … good

This is a reminder: you may need a mental health day. And if nothing gets done on that day, that’s okay. Doing nothing is doing something for your mental health.

Oh great. Now the content stealing accounts have arrived here too. Another platform where I have to keep sending copyright violation reports.

Okay if Apple is going to get drug through the mud for being a monopoly why is no one fighting to allow people to backup their phone data, music, and photos to anything other than iCloud storage???

It's #DOScember! Here's DOS and Windows 3 running on a... NeXTstation color?! It's also running Mac OS. And NeXTSTEP. All at the same time. And it did that 34 years ago. SoftPC got a version of DOS/Windows from Microsoft that's (partially) compiled for the Motorola 68040. #retrocomputing

you don't need verification if your posts are pure slay tho. saying. like as we learned earlier I'm the most followed music account on here but impersonators know not to even try. they cannot slay like I do. in their hearts they know this. true verification is when they know this in their hearts

Fuck yeah! Macy’s Day Parade Snoopy!
