I've said this before but "Musk said Neuralink was now trying to get as many mouse button clicks as possible from the patient" is the fakest thing I've ever read

What if the deranged billionaires who wanted to put chips in people's brains were capable of managing a team to design and build a product that actually delivered what they claimed

Buttigieg/Klobuchar would be funnier

Really twisted your arm, huh

If more of these people had participated sooner, the choices they need to make wouldn't be as bad, but it would have made them uncomfortable then, and it's not like anyone could have clearly seen where this would end up, right?

You must believe that stuff, because if you didn't, why would they be disagreeing with you

This is deeply powerful and speaks to the moment we find ourselves in. Thank you for writing it

It's something that *someone* needs to do. Mainstream media can't be counted on. Independent media is great but (apologies to @joshtpm.bsky.social) doesn't get enough views. Reps are the only people with a country sized megaphone that are liable to respond to pressure from Dem voters

The cost of taking a public position is that people may believe you mean it
comment in response to post
Whether it doesn't work because the majority doesn't believe in virtue or because they don't believe anyone would really do the things Dems say their opposition will or they just aren't paying attention is an open question, but regardless the strategy clearly doesn't work
comment in response to post
"When they go low, we go high" was a strategy premised on appealing to the virtue of the American public, and it turns out that doesn't work

I would get more catharsis from the second but evicting these ghouls from the White House is a higher priority

And a prerequisite to changing their mind is talking to them like a person, not shrieking at them like a banshee about what rock they've been living under for the last 9 years

Obviously not a legal document but our Republic is built on a foundation of trust and cooperation, and we should make clear what is necessary for citizens to maintain that foundation

Annotate the Bill of Rights with a Bill of Responsibilities. If First Amendment is freedom of speech, First Responsibility is to be honest in your communications, and to expect honesty from others

Love this idea

If you haven't played Pony Island or The Hex by the same developer, I strongly recommend them

I have never met someone with psychosis, and I am asking this not to be funny but sincerely: how would we know? Like, how do we know he's not there already? He doesn't seem attached to reality as it is
comment in response to post
I mean, if he does, it's kind of a vindication of his thesis? The only reason you would leak to him is because he constantly posts attacks against Republicans

Haven't picked it up yet because my local Barnes and Noble sold out almost immediately, but they just got a shipment so I'm getting my copy tomorrow!

Absolutely. Fault is not zero-sum. Identifying someone else who made a mistake does not absolve you of responsibility, nor your is pointing out your mistake an absolution of anyone else's responsibility.

This is 1) dumb 2) entirely plausibly an unintended bug. Who knows WTF Elon does at any given moment but I would believe this is a bug before I believe this is a change they deliberately made, tested and pushed

This reads like Musk posting

I have a friend who was anti-Musk years before it went mainstream because everyone he knew at SpaceX knew it was everyone's job to keep Musk away from anything important
comment in response to post
I think it's less that it's harder to get away with it in the gaming community than it is that Elon's BS is always transparently false to anyone who knows anything about the subject matter, and the gaming community has a much lower barrier to entry than hi tech manufacturing
comment in response to post
A lot of the Democrats who did this are still in office! What changed?

I've heard "inflation better than any other country" before, but have never found a citation for that. Do you have one? I think it would be something like "net inflation by country since Jan 21" but every time I search for it I only find inflation rates over time

Have you tried not skeeting while driving?

He mentioned it in his first term, and all the laughter about it stuck in his craw, so now he wants to do it for real to show that he's not stupid, his haters are stupid?

It's absolutely incredibly dumb and bad, it might be a nadir for CNN, but as for "never seen anything like this", I think it's in competition with their wall-to-wall Flight 370 coverage a decade ago

I used to not believe in it and it's been a depressing conversion

... Or you can say "better to support one undeserving than deny ten deserving" and just do it anyways
comment in response to post
There's always some unsympathetic figure you can find who received government benefits when maybe they shouldn't have and you can either tack on requirements that might exclude them (and WILL exclude a lot of people who should have received them)...

It's also the same as "we need to trim back the welfare share because THOSE people are free-riding on it"

Wait, but that would mean you're always willing to be annoying

I remember in 2015 when some major network talking head interviewed Ivanka and came away very impressed with her, when all Ivanka said in the interview was vague nonspecific platitudes to give the impression she agreed with the talking head

Have you tried Outer Wilds? It's different from the other sorts of games you listed, but it felt very Star Trek-y to me, in a way you might like

I would have said "a hard dose of reality slapping the general public in the face, such as criminally mismanaging a major crisis, maybe a pandemic", and it turns out, nope

I hope you gave the kind of reply to make them block you on Facebook

I don't think there's anything revealed by putting a mirror up to Trump. I think you'd be better off holding up a mirror to the general public's reaction, in all its variety

I did forget about barstool. I didn't know that about RFK

A different way you could look at that would be that none of these guys have interests that conflict with evangelicals' main issue, abortion
