Yet another Dark Sword-grass last night in St Mellion, Cornwall (the moth on the right in the photo was from the previous night). Also my latest ever (again) Winter Moth. No other moths in the traps. #teammoth

Among 9 species in St Mellion, Cornwall last night were another Dark Sword-grass, Hebrew Character (new for year), Chestnut (new for year), Angle Shades, Early Thorn and Acleris hastiana. #teammoth

The Acleris umbrana was the odd plain form, which seems to be fairly regular here. Also a pair Acleris ferrugana/notana in cop on the vane of the actinic trap. #teammoth

23 moths of 13 species in St Mellion last night - the highest count of the year. The strangest capture was a Setaceous Hebrew Character, which must have got confused as to which Hebrew Character it was! It may have arrived from the south with a Dark Sword-grass or just a freak emergence #teammoth

5 moths of 4 species in St Mellion, Cornwall last night. Dotted Border and Satellite were new for the year. Winter Moth still going - 10 days short of March! #teammoth

Hopefully we've seen the last of the cold, barren spell for a while. Just 1 Agonopterix heracliana/ciliella and 1 Early Grey in 3 traps last night. There was a 3c temperature rise between 6:30 - 7:30, but it was getting light by then. St Mellion, Cornwall #teammoth

Three of these bad boys turned up in the garden on Valentine's Day night last year. This year I'd just be happy to see a moth, although I'm hopeful we'll see a spell of North African air from the 17th. #teammoth

Ran the light for a couple of hours yesterday evening, before it got too cold. Early Grey was new for the year. Also, 5 Winter Moth, Early Moth and Agonopterix heracliana/ciliella. St Mellion, SE Cornwall on 4/2. #teammoth

A disappointing night, despite the temperature not falling below 9c until 10pm. Even the bats were out, however the full moon was just too bright for mothing, despite light cloud cover at first. 1 Agonopterix heracliana, 2 Winter Moth and 1 Mottled Umber recorded. St Mellion, SE Cornwall. #teammoth

Species number 6 for the year yesterday evening - Dark Chestnut. Plus 2 Winter Moth. St Mellion, SE Cornwall. It's looking much milder this evening (9c possible) so I may leave the traps on overnight. #teammoth

Crept up to 5 species for the year: 4 Winter Moth and Mottled Umber around the trap on 11/1. Found a Double-striped Pug by the porch light morning of 12/1. Driving to Falmouth yesterday and Acleris hastiana appeared on the inside of the windscreen. Finally, Agonopterix heracliana on eve. of 12/1.

14 Winter Moth braved the gales last night. They were all over the lawn and white sheets but not in the trap! St Mellion. #teammoth
