We've reached the point in our descent into fascism where the Jewish governor's house getting firebombed on Passover by a guy trying to bash his head in with a sledgehammer is overshadowed by the story of the President saying he wants to build foreign gulags for US citizens.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

Starting to think that it's a very strong "SELL" signal when the WSJ opinion section starts to get less apocalyptic on Trump tariffs and starts going back to more standard conservative fare. Taking their eyes off the ball here.

I just attended a conference in the US. We had one speaker detained and two others turned away at the border.

A helpful guide to the current state of US trade policy:

Whether you love or hate tariffs, you can't help but be impressed at the detailed policy planning, the transparency of the policy process, the credibility of Administration announcements, relentless attention to detail, flawless execution, and the thoughtful predictability that business demands.

This is bullshit—of course the US could apply diplomatic pressure to have him returned—but if it is allowed to stand, the executive branch has the power to disappear people permanently without any sort of due process. That in turn will be the end of all other constitutionally guaranteed rights.

I was thinking about this Joe and Tracy anecdote from the supply chain crisis on gummy bears. Things are probably going to get really weird in a few weeks in unexpected ways:

NEW: Whooping cough is killing babies. It’s not just measles cases that are soaring as vaccine rates decline. And the Trump administration recently cut $11 billion from state and local agencies on the front lines of protecting Americans from outbreaks. www.propublica.org/article/whoo...

Folks, I am once again begging you all to stop saying "Treasury yields always go down during market turmoil" when they didn't immediately do so during the biggest financial crisis of your lifetime. Lehman bankruptcy was Sept 15 2008, S&P500 crashed 25% while 10/30-years were up and down weekly.

This is the emoji to use when expressing frustration that America is becoming increasingly sidelined in international trade.
