Weighing up the cost of just leaving my forehead exposed to the sun's merciless UV vs the cost of spontaneously going blind whilst cycling as the sunscreen finds its way into my eyes.

Sprawl locks in car dependency, alienation, loneliness, and higher costs for municipal services and utilities. Sprawl displaces farmland, natural habitat, and open space. Sprawl is climate denialism.

Was with 100k+ people in Hyde Park last night having a lovely evening as the sun set. Walked to Green Park to get home and passed dozens of great bars + restaurants. These tedious misanthropes need to go outside.

"So I would say the private and public sector have this in common: the higher up you go in the organization, the more enthusiastic people are about "AI,” and the less they understand about the software" A-FREAKIN-MEN BRUTHA www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/how-ai-is-...

“you come up with a mean nickname to call this guy on TV?” “sure did boss, real fuckin sexy just like you asked”

A note of caution for the LD leadership here is that only 1% of Lab > LD defectors have done so because Labour is "too left wing". 25% have done so because it's been too right wing.

oh my gd, this naked gun poster

Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.

"Reactions.. have been positive from Oxford’s bus companies, Cyclox, the Green Party, Oxford West's Lib Dem MP, and the Coalition for Healthy Streets and Active Travel. Opponents include the Labour administration on the City Council, the Labour MP for Oxford East, and Labour’s county councillors."

The walls between realities are breaking down.

I think Western people are grasping at the idea - without the vernacular to use because it’s been beaten out of popular discourse - of “actually, yes, we would like to live in a society. please.”

Just going to consult this reference book, “The Consequences of Pursuing Godlike Power,” by The Entire Canon of World Literature

I'm not sure this nickname will have the impact they think it will

Avoid bus lane fines with this one weird trick

Time and again, those with the broadest shoulders contribute the least, while the most vulnerable are asked to tighten already-unbearable belts. Sunak pays a lower effective tax rate than a nurse. That should prompt reform at the top, not punishment at the bottom.

you know, i’m not militantly pro city-run groceries — i think it is an interesting idea to pilot and try out! — but i’m getting negatively polarized into being a big supporter just from these incredibly vapid, brain-dead posts.

Very pleasing that our house has been listed as being on an "enviable no-through road". Are LTN's...good?

It's quite striking that I've gone quite some time without even thinking about Kemi Badenoch because she's not said anything particularly relevant. She's sinking to a level of invisibility previously only reserved for leaders of the Liberal Democrats.

The intersection of politics and typography is my kink

"We can capture the CO2 with quicklime!" "And how do you make quicklime?" "You heat limestone to release the CO2!" "Exactly the same amount of CO2 as you capture?" "Well, no..." "So isn't this actually releasing MORE CO2?" "We'll use GREEN quicklime!" "Is that a real thing?" "No."

It is amazing how the same LinkedIn executive twerps who once bragged about their grindset and how they're always keeping their skills sharp are now just all "I use ChatGPT to do my entire job".

Never apologise for something you'd do again given half the chance.

I find when it's hot that ambient videos of cold video game locations that I know well helps a bit. youtu.be/bX85F85Lg0c?...

AI in the wild? This tray tissue I was given at a restaurant is full of errors and hallucinations…!

Zohran's right. flex posts need to go the way of Andrew Cuomo's career "we need bollards, we need to replace these flex delineators... there are New Yorkers who do not bike because they're afraid of their safety... we need to further protect our already protected bike lanes."

That's a dog

45 years of neoliberal robbery

Labour's to peel off Reform voters haven't made a dent, but 18% of their voters from last year are considering voting for rival progressive parties, vs only 7% for Reform.

Those of us with experience will note that swearing in socially inappropriate contexts from people previously able to keep a lid on it is a big red flag for dementia.
