One might note that Vanderbilt has recently signed a "statement of principles" which, to boil them down, say there will be NO POLITICAL PROTESTS on campus. Academic freedom means no "disruptions" for conscience and awareness of repression in the world.

The regurgitated European Supremacy is a bunch of canned answers that force an interlocutor to educate in order to complicate what seems simple...A dominant culture is a "single strand" of human thought and action? European magpie culture dominates via brute force - stolen, not earned, not original.

No - although Seder did note on his show that he did talk with one of them off camera about sharing some statistical information. I'm not sure epistemology is at play on one side - or I'm not sure what can be considered "justified belief."

Further, there's a large difference in degree, but not in kind, to the way my grandparents consumed televangelist "information" and then seamlessly moved into Fox News and specifically Glenn Beck. They could not imagine people could lie to you on TV (akin to trusting anything in print I guess?).

I saw that post and had trouble imagining the worldview of that human. So many people have been plugged into the onslaught of misinformation from rightwing media for so long anything goes.

Disdain, contempt...kind of irrelevant - he literally just lies and that will be promoted as truth and a percentage will believe it. Simple "mass math" for Trump.

kind of tired to "as usual" comments - what can we say anymore..."democrats" or these particular LIFETIME politicians who are just playing the game till retirement. Politicians in the US are clearly craven, selfish people.

Agree...but Cohen is an awful person in full support of Israel's genocidal war against Palestine. Pleased with TrumpGaza, so upset about TrumpKyiv.

I've always felt this way having grown up around it. Apocalypse is salvation after all. Why not end it?

They are not trying to be anything but self-interested and small-minded. Which is just to say they have no capacity to represent a "state" let alone the most powerful nation on the planet. The ethos is that of Fox news and televangelists (always a con). Any consideration otherwise is a mistake.

Have we ever left the realm of "might makes right"? Your other post re: Geuss demonstrates that internal options in the zoo might be expansive, but that this is illusion, or simply ephemeral, when might asserts its prerogative. The illusion dies hard in some quarters, less so in others.

seems hard to argue with that.
