I wish everyone writing about politics would, before they send anything out for publication, consult Albert O. Hirschman's Rhetoric of Reaction to check whether their argument conforms to one of the 3 core forms of reactionary argument he adumbrates.

Though not referring to you, Jamelle, as someone who studied fascist movements at Uni., I sure wish more folks in the beltway media would have learned more about authoritarianism & history than they seem to have been required to or curious enough to do in college.
"The passions and the interests" is also very good and gets no love at all. All about how early capitalism was morally justified. In short we always knew it was about selfishness and not freedom, but wanted to quell the passions of workers.
