he looks like a state fair butter sculpture

There’s a crop art for everything

Shout out to Namakan Goods for these leather-palmed driving mittens. I have worn these all winter and they are perfect for dog walks--they are very grippy on leashes (steering wheels too) and not too hot. They are holding up great! I wish they were a little longer in the wrist, but otherwise perfect

"It is with a heavy heart that we admit Spines for Senators has failed in its mission to provide invertebrate lawmakers with the transformational surgeries they so desperately need."

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page I got a tip: "Of local interest, the Grain Belt Beer Sign is front paged on Wikipedia right now."

american masculinity is so amazing. caring about clothes as a man apparently makes you "gay" but our position on geopolitics totally depends on whether you wear a suit

Me every time I see the news:

We wrote a letter to @amyklobuchar.com. We need her to start fighting for Minnesotans.

I guess the windy walk we just took wasn’t enough. Dogs have zoomies! Speaking of windy walks, no one ever taught my boy dogs to never piss in the wind…

You know where you can go and not worry about breaking the economic blackout today? Your local library! All those books and you won’t spend a penny!

Donald Trump is embarrassing the United States on the world stage. We are a country that stands up to dictators and fights for democracy. Minnesota stands firmly with our allies in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in Twin Cities weather:

I am so glad we got our big ash tree trimmed last fall. This wind would have slammed it repeatedly into our new roof. It is SO FREAKING WINDY

This is a great example of something NIH has recently accomplished. This research came after my food allergy kid was born 21 years ago. They do good work every day to help all of us.

Neither Gov. Greg Abbott nor lawmakers from the hardest hit areas have addressed the measles outbreak publicly in press conferences, social media posts or public calls for people to consider getting vaccinated.

Please note that this jerk lawyer describes himself as successful in FILING these complaints. Do not give in. These are not winning complaints.

Aggrieved white men are on the offensive in the Twin Cities, because trying to increase the minuscule Black professionals in Advertising (an industry that raids Black culture on a regular) and increasing underrepresented girls in science - it’s all very unfair to them. t.co/Um2OBWxa4O

These fake "anti-white civil rights complaints" are going to be a major feature of this regime's attempt to resegregate America. They're already rolling out various attempts to make them easier to file and encourage white people to file them at the drop of a hat.

This is Highland Park High School, located in one of the bluest-voting places in the country. Talk to your neighbors, people. Also, we need some big law firms to step up and vocally volunteer to defend all these bullshit cases so the schools/etc. won’t continue to cancel events like this/

Totally normal. Nothing to see here. Just students playing tennis outside in Minnesota. In shorts and skirts. In February.

This is your periodic reminder that if you live in Minnesota you have access (no login required) to the full text of the NYT, WaPo, WSJ, AJC, ChiTrib, LA Times, Star Tribune, and much more all the way back to the 80s. All thanks to eLibrary Minnesota. Libraries rule!

The MN Chorale has a concert with choirs of all ages and stages at Mpls South HS Saturday—pay what you can. These are beautiful songs about the power of art to heal and transform, and MNC has incredible free opps for seniors and kids to sing with The Best folks, so check them out.

PSA If you maintain a subscription to the NYTimes that you wanted to drop but can't because of games, The Minnesota Star Tribune now includes access to NYT games with their subscriptions.

A birder taught me that if there are crows squawking together during the day time, there’s probably a raptor around. Some sort of hawk is being hounded by two crows.

I guess it’s officially dark now

SCOOP: WaPo Opinion editor David Shipley is out. Jeff Bezos emails staff about a change to Post Opinions: "We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets."

OK I know I should have canceled earlier but I am now officially done with the Washington Post.

1905 and 1948: Workers on the clock at Minneapolis City Hall. When constructed in 1896 it was the largest such timepiece in the world with faces 6"-18" than those on the Elizabeth Tower that houses Big Ben in London, depending on how you measure.

It was a great day to sniff around Summit Ave. Clive and Felix also got to meet a poodle mix named Drake. I said “say Drake” and Drake’s human said her kids named him in October and refused to consider changing the name after the Super Bowl. 😄

I've been waiting for this and I'm glad that it's finally here. The Every USPS bot is on bluesky now! @everylot-usps.bsky.social

My statement regarding President Trump's rhetoric on public safety in Saint Paul. Article: "St. Paul rejects White House callout over lack of ICE cooperation" www.minnpost.com/metro/2025/0...

U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough to resign.
