Wait until you find out that laces are sold in different lengths.

They *stay* rich for a reason.

That’s an absurd idea.

Admit it - Nigel Farage wrote this.

Literally inflation.

There’s a spectrum, from pure skill games (chess, checkers/draughts, go) through to pure luck games (eg snakes and ladders). The majority fall somewhere in between, with cards/dice and skill based decision making elements. Monopoly is quite luck-biased on this scale.

Best description I’ve read of Farage since “mouth like an abandoned graveyard”

What an incredible coincidence!!

Oh I agree the 70mph limit is absurdly low. I just don’t think any government is actually going to change it. Though actually, now I say that, Farage might be on board - could be the one positive from a Reform government 😝

Something something reap what you sow.

I agree, but the 70mph limit is as much about emissions and noise as anything else - cars are less efficient the faster they go above around 50-60.
comment in response to post
Chances of the speed limit being revised upwards are functionally zero.

Depends on accent. I think of ‘towel’ as two syllables and ‘owl’ is clearly one.

Private equity rather than VC, but yeah.

Is this your first day on the internet?

Way to hedge your opinion there. “With the odd exception” and “almost” kind of neutralise “universally”

Still expensed it to your constituents, no doubt 😝

Because whoever made your “flat white” doesn’t have a clue.

Opinions are like arseholes - everyone’s got them, and this one stinks.

Why not report them and get compensation for the unlawful working conditions?

Why be so serious? It’s a joke.

It’s a joke. Don’t take yourself so seriously.

Two years on and she hasn’t figured it out? I’m sorry to tell you this, but your daughter is exceptionally stupid. Don’t despair - stupidity isn’t the handicap it used to be. A promising career as an “influencer” awaits.

English is the only language *you know* that is like this. Given the ignorance and arrogance in the opinion, I’m guessing you don’t know many languages.

If you mean the median, then half are stupider than that. And the median intelligence is frighteningly low.

Yes, they’re much cheaper than many other forms of entertainment. As for the latter issue, my simple solution is not to buy the popcorn. Believe it or not, it is possible to sit for 2 hours without stuffing your face. Or bring your own snacks.
comment in response to post
True except for cinemas. People don’t use them because they’d rather wait 2 weeks and watch the movie on their massive TV at home from a nice comfy sofa than sit with a bunch of noisy strangers on a suspiciously sticky seat.

We have “investigative journalist” and “tabloid journalist”. You could say the same for almost any profession - there’s a spectrum of skill levels and respectability.

I think we actually need an additional laugh emoji. The current one doesn’t distinguish between “that’s a hilarious and winning riposte, and I’m laughing with you”; and “that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, you colossal moron”

Not foaming, but it’s a heavy burden to bear being right in a sea of wrong. Anyway good luck finding a job that pays you to commute.
comment in response to post
You might be reasonable, but the expectation is not.
comment in response to post
“Failed to carry the argument”? I’m clearly right. Nobody reasonably expects to be paid for their commute.
comment in response to post
What is this supposed to mean?
comment in response to post
Unless you are working during your commute (eg answering emails) then your employer is not benefiting from time you spend commuting, so why should they pay you? If you chose to move 3 hours away, should they pay you 6 hours a day to commute? Should they also pay your train fare / petrol?
comment in response to post
No. If your job requires you to be at a certain (fixed) place between certain hours, then it’s entirely your responsibility to be there on time. You could move closer to work.
comment in response to post
No. Exactly not like your commute, unless you spend that time working.
comment in response to post
Because if you have permission then it’s no fun.

Isn’t the bigger issue here that Jesus supposedly died for humanity’s sins but a couple of days later he’s up and about again? I guess “Jesus gave up his weekend for your sins” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
