Turn off your alarm.

NEW ODD LOTS: The end of the American Exceptionalism trade. @tracyalloway.bsky.social and I talked to DB's Vice Chair for Macro on what investors see as the hardest call to make in years. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...

Rubio doing his best to rescue the tourism biz. 🤡 @axios.com www.axios.com/newsletters/...

US campaign entices Canada tourists: “Come visit America and also maybe El Salvador!”

yeah man I hear the beaches in El Salvador are great this time of year

incredibly rich coming from a movement full of men screaming "innocent until proven guilty!!!!!!" when they're credibly accused by multiple women of sexual assault.

this thing is going to sell so much better than it would have, simply because it is so clearly the anti-Cybertruck

This is ridiculous, can the administration decide on a message between “we’re doing infinity percent tariffs to hard decouple from China” and “No one thinks the China tariffs are sustainable and wants them to remain”

The internet becomes more tolerable once you realize that 99% of the people who are being assholes to you online have never actually engaged with your work and have no plans to.

It seems like Roberts was trying to avert a Rubicon moment by delivering the only legally possible conclusion in the Abrego Garcia case in a sort of soft-pedaled way that allowed Trump to save face & claim a partial win while “graciously” complying. That has obviously backfired.

Poilievre is saying that unless we do consecutive sentences for multiple murders, you get “4 years of jail time per murder.” “That’s insane” he says. It’s actually a lie. They don’t get out. They get a hearing, and the murderers he’s talking about don’t get parole in Canada. He’s rage-farming.

*nervously buys Euros*

now that the US dollar is losing its role as the global reserve currency its time for hawk tuah coin to shine

Fun fundraiser…let me know if interested in a capitalistic fundraiser (and to save me spending more money on more entries)…if yeah, email them in support of S. Greer at udfcdragons at gmail dot com $20/entry Classic Canadian fundraiser! (ie Cdn funds and e-transfers and stuff) Thank you

It feels like whenever there is a touch of pushback on a tariff target, it gets rescinded or given an exemption. Feels like it’s all just a matter of time…which isn’t a bad thing, poorly and overly broad tariffs are bad…but this is bonkers

folks again unless you have no other choice do not get in a helicopter for any goddamn reason

Our cat came home today! Thin as a rake but whole and purring and hasn't left laps all night. Not sure how she found her way home after four weeks but she did ❤️❤️❤️

Keep getting updates from my wife and youngest daughter at a fancy themed dinner and man o man does it sound sumptuous…we are so lucky to be able to say yes to these things every once in awhile!

Alright, I think people knew of the tariff pause and traded it beforehand. You can see before Trump posted "buy" on Truth Social, traders opened $QQQ $TQQQ and $SPY calls RIGHT BEFORE THE NEWS, someone opened $SPY 509 calls, expiring TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those calls are up 2100% in one hour.

Per CNBC: White House is now saying EU will not be punished for their retaliation because it hadn't gone into effect yet. So they only get the 10% baseline tariff. That excuse just tells you in black and white how much they've contorted themselves in order to back the fuck off this poor strategy.

If you weight 2024 imports by the 10%/"reciprocal" tariff amount announced last Wednesday (with China at 54%, Mexico/Canada at 0%), the total tariff rate would have been 21%. Today, with China at 125% and Mexico/Canada at 10% along with ~everybody else, the rate is 26%.

putting Trump in Civ 8 and making his civilization's superpower "being a fucking idiot"

Seven years today since we first introduced you to this absolute unit.

Starting to think that we should sort out a general agreement on trade and tariffs, perhaps housed under some sort of world trade organization. Let's keep the region strong with some kind of of north american free trade agreement. Perhaps a trans pacific partnership could soften China's influence.

Markets are experiencing Stockholm Syndrome right now but at some point the real world will have to reckon with the fact that 10% universal tariffs plus 125% tariffs on China (and maybe the EU?) and sector tariffs on steel, aluminum, lumber, and pharmaceuticals are still a huge problem

Wild that some spurious tweets wafted this into reality over the course of a couple days.

I see somebody is celebrating Confederate Surrender Day by admitting he lost

You set the house on fire, watched it burn, and then lost your nerve and put it out. You now have a partially burned house. Great job.

Maybe the true tariffs were the friends we made along the way.

Not sure I could buy a green open. Expect a market that is super thin and and jumpy with a continuation of wild swings fueled by rumors. Trumpers are desperate to change the narrative so I expect a lot of “had a great call with” nonsense headlines. Good luck!

YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T TRAVEL TO THE UNITED STATES.

Thinking of using the slight upswing to sell some stuff and get my cash portion a bit higher…nothing drastic but if it’s an up day….

Kramer says the worst may be behind us…so… youtu.be/sRoT2kPekgY?...

Bessent and Navarro both giving interviews right now with diametrically opposed vibes. I’m gonna lose it

Brexit wasn't anywhere near on the same scale but this does feel like it has the same enraging quality of making you want to go "I mean we could just....not? we could not do that? how about we simply don't, then line goes up again?"
