It would have been much harder to argue for motorized scooters if bicycles hadn't existed. Just like it would have been much harder to legalize Cannabis if alcohol and tobacco hadn't already been there.

Da gehen übrigens einige Angaben aus den ganzen Artikeln nicht auf. Demnach werden Battery Packs mit jeweils 1,6 MWh eingesetzt und es sind 24 Boxen dafür vorhanden. 24x1,6 ist aber 38,4 und nicht 88. Es müssten entweder ~3,6 statt 1,6 MWh oder 55 Boxen sein.

Die 750 km sind eine Schätzung bei stehenden Gewässern. Auf dem Rhein dauern die 800 Kilometer von Rotterdam nach Basel aufgrund der Gegenströmung 4 Tage. Der Akku des chinesischen Elektrofrachters müsste unterwegs drei Mal geladen werden.
Auf allen wichtigen Wasserstraßen Deutschlands strömt es.

50 MWh reichen bei 1,8 MW Antriebsleistung für ~27 Stunden unter Volllast. Bei den üblichen 15 Knoten wären das um die 750 Kilometer, bei niedrigerer Geschwindigkeit vermutlich etwas mehr. Reicht also nur für die Binnenschiffahrt, genau wie bei der Yara Birkeland.

Sie haben als MdB für folgendes gestimmt:
- Kürzung der Solarförderung
- Unterirdische Speicherung von CO2
- Schnellere Absenkung der Einspeisevergütung im EEG

Benutze das X13s seit einem Jahr mit einem angepassten Debian (Kernel ist immer noch nicht mainline), Ubuntu bereitet offiziellen Support dafür vor. Das Gerät gibt es mittlerweile teilweise für 500 Dollar.
Bis auf die Kamera läuft alles. Leistung ist sehr gut, Akkulaufzeit weniger.

If that's the barrier, non-trivial open hardware simply cannot exist. The moment you need something even as tiny as a USB port, you have to trust the manufacturer to not do something nefarious behind everybody's backs.

"WH" ist keine gesperrte Kombination. Sie kann allerdings auch nicht am Beginn eines gültigen Kennzeichens auftreten (das linke Kennzeichen ist ungültig).
"88" ist in vielen Kreisen/Bundesländern gesperrt, aber nicht in allen.

No single attribute decides such questions. But technical merits do add lines to pro/cons lists, and especially compatibility with the rest of the tools in your workflow can be a dealbraker. Use of a VCS is hardly ever isolated from everything else.

It's not just the integration. Every time you want to use Mercurial for anything, even the tiniest thing like checking out some code in a script, you have to ship a full, current Python implementation and make sure it actually works. Git can be a single, statically-linked binary less than 2 MB.

To be honest the decision to write Mercurial in Python, making language bindings for anything other than Python near impossible, on its own already disqualifies it from being "technically better" IMO. Basic tooling like this always has to be as broadly usable as possible.

GitHub's founders, like most others at the time, made lengthy comparisons between VCSes. Here is e.g. Scott Chacon's personal take on it:

He simply didn't like some of Mercurials design decisions, like many others. Popularity was not the main factor.

GPS wird im Flugverkehr nicht als primäre Quelle für die Navigation genutzt. Die Esten haben in Tartu aber - aus Kostengründen - die lokale Flugkontrolle und das sonst vorhandene Instrumentenlandesystem eingespart. Angesichts der Tatsache, dass GPS auch ohne Russen gestört sein kann, fatal.

Alle Satellitennavigationssysteme sind gleich leicht oder schwer störbar. Galileo und GPS teilen sich allerdings eine gemeinsame Frequenz, wenn GPS gestört wird ist also automatisch auch immer eine der beiden Galileo-Frequenzen gestört.

It was definitely GitHub and then later Gitea/Gitlab. Git wasn't a thing for most FOSS developers until the mid-2010s, it was all still CVS, Subversion and a bit of Bazaar (for people using Ubuntu's Launchpad).
We migrated our last Subversion repositories to Git in 2020.

Git wasn't popular in the beginning. The main driving force behind it was GitHub. No other service allowed people to host and collaborate on code so easily, quickly and for free. Sourceforge and Launchpad with Subversion/Bazaar had much worse UIs.
Probably hardly anybody knows Linus made git.

Es darf aber auch keinen blinden Ersatz geben, sonst stehen wir hinterher weiterhin mit extrem viel teurer Luxusinfrastruktur rum. Die ganzen kleinen, kaum genutzten Brücken über Autobahnen kann man z.B. einspurig und standardisiert bauen, viele andere sicher auch. Spart Unsummen, siehe Neuseeland.

Naja, das ist bei diesen Leuten ja ständig so, dass sie ihre 10 Jahre alten Informationen nicht ab und zu mal aktualisieren. Dabei könnte sich ja raus stellen, dass man falsch gelegen hat oder sogar eine Entschuldigung angesagt wäre.

Es wurde ja sogar jede Menge in die Bahn und die Infrastruktur investiert. Aber halt einfach auch extrem schlecht und ineffizient.
Alleine der BER, Stuttgart 21, die neuen Autobahnen und die unterirdische Verlegung von Stromtrassen in Bayern haben Abermilliarden verschluckt.
