Tangentially, I've asked my MP this: What does it say about the UK in 2025, when a commissioner for the country's equality watchdog feels safe to use the term "trans identified male" to describe people with a protected characteristic that those people find offensive and utterly reject?

Remembering when Hanvey shook his head, Cherry rolled her eyes, and Duffield looked to the other two, and did a theatrical ‘head in her hands’, while Kirsty Blackman was quoting a trans constituent. The Guardian never mentions that vile response from her.

Finally - It goes higher than journalists, some of whom are heroically delivering truth - where the state is concealing it. 'Journalists in N. Ireland are facing regular death threats and attacks, with few perpetrators prosecuted, according to a new report by Amnesty International.' [END]

We're still waiting for the raft of people suing tavistock, I notice.

it's worth putting in context that vanishingly few medical interventions have satisfaction rates that high. www.americanjournalofsurgery.com/article/S000...

There's a very telling quote in this Journal.ie piece.

The sheer blindness to her privilege infuriates me! I wish she even had to walk half a day in my trans family members shoes. Or even mine as someone trying to advocate for my kid against a transphobic NHS and school, whilst both the government and media attacks my family on a daily basis!

As a cis woman I am very aware of my privilege, so it infuriates me to see a cis women, in a significantly more privileged positions than me, pretending they are somehow persecuted because people have chosen to peacefully protest against policies which are doing real harm to trans people.

When "let people enjoy their thing" means allowing people to advertise for and/or fund a transphobic bigot who is actively using this money to fund the removal of trans rights. No actually, we shouldn't just "let people enjoy their thing". Fighting transphobia IS the important thing.

How disappointing. I guess she got piled on by the bigots and caved as quickly as pack of cards. I'm so sick of cis people who seem quite happy to throw trans people under the bus for a peaceful life.

Trans people were lied to?? Using services based on “self ID” (the gender role in which they present) regardless of GRC is right there in the EHRC’s 2011 Code of Practice. It’s in the EHRC’s own 2022 guidance. The Labour Gov recognised this too a matter of months ago. This is horrific gaslighting.

And since you made that decision, more and more evidence has come out to show 1.) The Cass review which triggered all this isn't worth the paper it's written on and 2.) These are the kind of people behind the puberty blockers ban. And yet everyone is still pretending the decision wasn't political.
