Trump needs to be called weak at every turn. Get under his skin. We need headlines declaring Trump impotent.

Trump does have the power to return him, but I do agree that we should call him a very weak leader at every opportunity since he claims to have no recourse here.

Trump is a slave trader.

No, because they don’t WANT due process to apply. If they said “Oh well, he’s dead” it only emphasizes why due process is needed.
comment in response to post
Yes. Trump essentially claimed we’d hit a Covid plateau in early 2020.
comment in response to post
That wouldn’t work in their favor right now with the whole process under scrutiny. It would only underscore the need for due process and cause outrage.

He’s a test case now. If they can get away with defying this order, they can disappear anyone. It also shows they don’t care about anyone or any law.

This is the most corrupt administration in history.

Border Patrol is using the term "criminal" very loosely. They go on tv or make public statements about gangs and violent crime to make people think that's who they're targeting but they're really just arresting anyone who might not have work permit or crossed the border illegally just to pick crops.

I don't think they intend to make payments.

They're planning to stop paying out Social Security benefits entirely, aren't they? They're setting the stage for it now.
comment in response to post
Yes. It's been the law since the early '60s.

Oh, great. How many people might have been in Denny's restaurant over a 4-hour period from breakfast through lunch?

Sounds wonderful!

The US is not safe for international students. Hell, if I had a college-aged child here in the US I'd be encouraging them to study abroad. US universities are losing talent, and research opportunities at a fast clip. US universities will no longer be turning out top talent in multiple fields.

I'm very concerned about Abrego Garcia's well-being. I think they may be stalling to hide his current condition. Has he been badly beaten by prison guards? Has he been killed?

No need to be baffled. NONE of the layoffs or cancelled programs are about fraud and waste.

And that's why I enjoy following you!

I think about that whenever I see them. These people who like to go around calling themselves alpha males, twice elected a guy who takes hours getting his hair and makeup right each day and a VP who wears eyeliner. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There’s a section of Central from the fairgrounds, east, that has lots of homeless people living on the sidewalks, tons of drugs and high violent crime. It’s gotten dramatically worse over the past 8-10 years. More policing is needed but it seems like only half the equation though.

The excuses offered in that story are disgusting. “Not a true reflection of them or our school”. “Not a blame on the parents”. A woman talking about shame in the abstract. These are high school kids. If they don’t understand how wrong this is that’s on their whole community!

Yes, I heard a MSNBC reporter say Trump's support of tariffs "is a long held belief" - as if that means it's sound economic policy. Well there are people who believe the earth is flat but that doesn't mean it's a scientific fact.

This makes me sick.

Are the prison guards in El Salvador showing any signs of love?

This is the dumbest excuse. There's no reason not to point out every mistake made.
comment in response to post
Exactly. The people who say it's about going to the WH and not about the current POTUS are fooling themselves. Trump is behaving like a dictator. He's hurting the nation and people around the world. This was a bad, bad decision. The photo op is with Trump. It's all about him.

So Labor's pensions and 401Ks aren't affected by the stock market? This is just Trump bootlicking.

Blithering idiot.

I agree. I think they're the only ones who may actually have influence. They've funded (purchased) R politicians for supporting Trump. If they work in reverse and tell those same pols the money stops unless they take down Trump...

Posting a statement on Twitter isn’t the same as holding a press conference to provide that info to the nation. He didn’t say he has been wrong for years for criticizing vaccines. He didn’t platform vaccine experts. He’s doing the bare minimum and it won’t undo decades of his vaccine denial.

There are over 600 cases reported, but there must be hundreds and hundreds more unreported, considering that 3 have died.

At the very least, if he's a social studies teacher who doesn't understand the first thing about tariffs and who thinks Republicans might fund universal healthcare, college and feed the poor - then his school district should be very embarrassed they hired a bulb so dim to teach their children.

His very own blogspot is entirely about being a coach. I'm not suggesting he's a great coach, I'm suggesting it's the focus of his career and it's commonplace for school districts to have coaches teach academic subjects on the side, rather than have scholars coach basketball in their spare time.
comment in response to post
It's a part time side gig to being a coach.
comment in response to post
I get that he's not just a coach, but I also know that most schools hire coaches who are then given academic classes in subjects the schools don't consider to be very important. It's been that way for 75 years. It's the "coach" credential that gets them the job, first and foremost.
comment in response to post
A basketball coach may indeed be considered a teacher but that doesn't mean he's teaching substantive subjects.
comment in response to post
Nah. He's a basketball coach. He may be "certified" to teach Econ but there's not a chance in hell he does.

They're a sales tax but the primary effect of a tariff (if targeted) is that it discourages the purchase of specific goods. It forces consumers to buy something other than an item with a high tariff. Trump's widespread tariffs will limit all purchases. There won't be huge revenue gains from this.

So critical, perhaps even lifesaving programs might be restored on a piecemeal basis if someone can gain the ear of the right Republican. Cool. Cool. 🙄 Great way to run a country.
comment in response to post
This might be different because the DOE grants were earmarked to hire more teachers. The NIH grants were funding research projects already underway but the $$ was abruptly cut off.
comment in response to post
Otherwise every penny already spent on a grant is money down the drain. Talk about waste! You can’t cut off funds mid-research and glean useful info from half finished studies. They’ve probably already caused irreparable harm to some subjects and/or protocols.
