EEOC agrees to drop pending enforcement letters against law firms that pledged major dollars to Trump "pro bono" fund. We now live in a country where making a payment to the ruler's slush fund lets you buy your way out of regulatory difficulty.

It’s interesting that the self-professed libertarians in Congress (Massie and Paul) have made grumpy noises about tariffs, but haven’t (I think) said a word about the power of the state being openly used to persecute, extort and threaten individuals and individual companies.
Sorry to be jumpy :)
I knew you were being ironic.
Ron Paul has or had many flaws, but being an ill-read, uneducated, fascist enabler was still not detectably among them, from what I could tell.
… it’s like these “libertarians” are so used to looking for tyranny in laws and regulations that when confronted with a leader who blatantly and lawlessly uses the power of the state to attack and cow his personal enemies, they don’t see it as tyranny
The administration will come back to the well again, asking for more. It will never stop. These firms haven't bought themselves anything other than an unknown amount of time until they get shaken down again
Nearly a billion $ to help the regime so far. Dangerous and nauseating. These firms the most likely to be able to push back and save our country. Instead they say “Nah-I think we’ll let the vulnerable fend for themselves. Let them eat cake” 🤬
"The firms fighting in court tend to be litigation-focused, while the places making deals are more transaction-centric, [HLS's David] Wilkins & others said. The firms fighting in court tend to be litigation-focused, while the places making deals are more transaction-centric, Wilkins & others said."
Adam Unikowsky’s post makes a solid argument for why of course it doesn’t matter if a firm is transaction-centric or not. If the gov is in anyway involved in the transaction these “deals” still create a likely ethical/conflict of interest problem: https://adamunikowsky.substack.com/p/the-case-for-suing
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
Between this and the absolutely pathetic arguments being made to the courts by corrupted DOJ lawyers, is it any surprise that most people hold lawyers in low regard? I am not including the many upstanding lawyers doing great work here on Bluesky.
Completely undermining these law firms. Do you think this regime will allow any of the law firms that the regime now essentially owns to represent anyone who the regime disagrees with? And, I’m sure Pambo will not allow public defenders to represent Joe public. So, good luck if you get arrested.
"Regulatory difficulty" in this context refers to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's letters threatening enforcement action over alleged discrimination against whites, males etc. in DEI programs, which apparently could be made to go away given a donation to the president's pro bono kitty.
Every administration going forward should demand these law firms also capitulate to their administration. Squeeze their neutered balls and don't let these cowards off the hook.

Anyway Paul’s father is no prize either.

That’s just his idiot son.
Ron’s Twitter feed is pretty revealing I think: https://nitter.net/RonPaul
He’s anti-tariff, isolationist, likes DOGE, and (to his credit) criticized punishing immigrants for their speech.
But I don’t see any mention of Trump’s corruption, extortion, autocratic EOs.
💔🤍💙
Doesn’t all this constitute extortion and bribery?
And therefore, come under ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’?
