It has begun 😳 #censorship #bookbans #freedomofspeach

Fantastic that an uncompromising three and a half hour movie can win three (!) Golden Globes!! Best drama, best actor AND best motion picture director. Huge congrats to director Brady Corbet and his Norwegian partner Mona Fastvold who has written this epic! 👏👏 #goldenglobes #thebrutalist

Finished the 1st book of the year on x-mas holiday, and what a read!! Recommend Alexei Navalnys posthumous biography «Patriot» to absolutely everyone. Such a page turner! A true crime (written by the victim himself) and deep insight into Russia, propaganda, Putin, dictatorships and true bravery 💙📚

#boksky #idrett #paraidrett

A blow to book banners! A federal judge has struck down key parts of an Arkansas law that would have allowed criminal charges against librarians and booksellers for providing so-called “harmful” materials to minors. The law would have deputized librarians and booksellers as agents of censorship.

In Arendal, Norway, reactions from 1 parent made the principal tell the librarian to remove Maia Kobabes «GenderQueer» from the shelves. It should be obvious but information is not harmful. No one is forced to read a book! The librarian resisted and the book is now back on the shelves, for now.

New Jersey is fighting back against book bans and just passed the «Freedom to Read Act”! Most books in the risk of being banned deal with LGBTQ issues or race. “Students feel the pain when the books that describe their lived experience were called disgusting, obscene, and depraved.” 💙📚 #bookbans

“Now they have laws where if Palestinian citizens of Israel like a social media post from Gaza, they could be arrested. And there's more and more cases of this happening where there's a crackdown on free speech within the ‘48 territories.” The free LitHouse podcast with author Isabella Hammad👇🏻 💙📚

Making a list, checking it twice and stacking up the Kindle for Christmas😍Karl Ove Knausgård, Olga Tokarczuk, Joyce Carol Oates and more! The annual list from @newyorker.com of the most recommended reads of the year is my favourite way to prep for the holidays: #booksky #literature

For years Christian Conservative forces have been attacking the abortion law in Norway. Today the Norwegian Parliament pushed forcefully back, liberalising key points of the law. Overjoyed to see that activism works! May this give hope to sisters around the world, still I fighting✊🏻

«Over the past two years, there have been over 200 bills in state legislatures proposing statewide book bans in school libraries or criminalized librarians for providing access to books that some people object to.» This could be nation wide. Project2025 lays out how a national #bookban could work.

«A book is always also an opportunity to remain in dialogue» 💙📚 Booker-winning author Jenny Erpenbeck in her (brilliant!) essay collection «Not a Novel» .

«Totalitarian regimes are never really as stable as they might seem» Listen to insightful analysis of history and totalitarianism by @margaretatwood.bsky.social in conversation with Booker prize winning Jenny Erpenbeck at the (free!) LitHouse podcast🎧 #booksky #literature

🧵Finished reading Aftermath by Harald Jähner. Great book on how to build up a country after a devastating war. Might sound like a depressing read in these days but actually gives hope on how it might be possible to rebuild war torn areas in like Ukraine or Gaza today🙏🏻 #booksky 1/6

«Asså i den outfiten der er jo du.. jeg håper bare du blir så full at du sovner for å si det sånn høhø». Åpenbart at Overton-vinduet for sovende jenter aka sovevoldtekt har flytta seg i enkelte miljø. Har du ikke har sett er det 18 min, etter at hun har sagt nei til å kysse: tv.nrk.no/se?s=dama-til

Actually an overlooked and important point not only in this context.

This week we have none other than BBC World Book Club visiting the House of Literature!🌟Tuesday they will tape a show with @anneholt.bsky.social, and Thursday evening with Maja Lunde, Oliver Lovrenski, Johan Harstad and Gunnhild Øyehaug. Want to be in the audience? It’s free! Check out these links💙📚

Censorship will begin - in the name of "anti-censorship"

Motivasjon!!❤️❤️

Missed the meeting of giants @margaretatwood.bsky.social and Booker winner Jenny Erpenbeck at The House of Literature? ❤️‍🔥(Or maybe you live on another continent!) It is now available on our free + ad free podcast LitHouse! 👇🏻 They talk about totalitarian regimes, writing, refugees, plagues and more💙📚
