First glimpse of thrift along my local stretch of coast. #wildflowers #flowers #plants #signsofspring

Thanks to all who came to Writing the Wild! Great to work with such an enthusiastic group, with everyone engaging so thoughtfully with the stunning landscape and the climate & nature emergency. Acer met me for a post-workshop walk so he wasn't too miffed at missing the earlier coastal exploration.

Off to St Davids to Write the Wild! Looking forward to meeting all the participants. I've previously run versions of this workshop in a range of wild weathers including snow (near Fort William) and torrential rain (Conrwall) so today's sun and the gentle breeze feel very benign.

The forest doesn’t ask for attention. It just keeps growing, quietly and completely. If that kind of patience feels like home, make something from it. Now open for Fiction, Poetry, Nonfiction, Translation, and Art! thedodgemag.com/submissions

I encountered quite a few beautiful creatures while doing my Writing the Wild workshop recce earlier this week - and none more stunning than this adder. #writersofbluesky

Why has @privateeyenews.bsky.social stopped running this ad? It’s factual and a really clever way of getting a lot of information across.

Solidarity with the Society of Authors and all my fellow writers today. Thousands of us have had our work used by Meta to train AI systems without permission or payment. Grateful to those who were protesting earlier at Meta’s London HQ.

The Society of Authors has coordinated an open letter that will be sent to Lisa Nandy demanding that Meta be held to account for pirating writers' work for AI training. You can add your name here:

Gorgeous day for doing a recce for one of my Writing the Wild workshops. #Pembrokeshire #Cymru

On #WorldTheatreDay, happy memories of working as a playwright for Something Permanent Theatre Co. So honoured that Two Of Me Now, my poetic drama about Virginia Woolf & Sylvia Plath, was published by Cecil Woolf (Virginia’s nephew) in his literary/academic imprint, the Bloomsbury Heritage Series.

In The Flow I wrote about the spring that rises a few metres from my house. So close, yet somehow it’s always an adventure to go there. today’s Country Diary www.theguardian.com/environment/...

all of it …

Like so many other writers, I'm outraged that some of my work, incl Where the Seals Sing, has been stolen by Meta to train AI systems. Here's the Authors Guild template for writers to send a formal letter to Meta, indicating they do not have the right to pirate work & demanding proper compensation.

I love how this boy always lies close to me as I write, using his bed as a pillow and sleeping half under my chair. #dogsofbluesky #dogsky #writerslife

Spring equinox walk to 'my' seal bay, the one that features throughout 'Where the Seals Sing'. For the 1st time in 10+ years of watching, recording, writing, I failed to see a single grey seal. But the sun & gorse were out, there were celandines & violets & I heard my 1st chiffchaff of the year.
