Spending some time working in not-Rust gives me an appreciation for how much Rust gets right. It's the best language for the work I do; nothing else is close. My thanks to everyone who's contributed to Rust, and all those who have been and continue to be human to each other to move Rust forward.

The PNW throws up moss anywhere you can't quite reach.

Just doing some reading about the design of cryptographic protocols.

I'm looking for my next thing, and I need to move fast. I have several years of experience in developer relations from startups to the enterprise, and I'm particularly skilled at distilling complex topics into something easily understood by newbies and non-technical folks alike, on stage or off. 1/3

Met the goal of $5000.

I'm successfully bullying my friends to donate to my brother's after school computer club. He teaches middle school and has 80ish kids showing up for his after school program.

thanks for 16 years, bud. i'll miss you.

This sounds like my memories from being a teenager. acloudyskye.bandcamp.com/album/this-w...

Sitting in the coffee shop angry and frustrated at the work in my laptop, I notice my two friends behind the counter leaning over a half-wall separating espresso machines from patrons. They’re making faces at me.

Ayy, this is fun. Give it a listen. 炜WARD ROMANCE is my favorite track. flavorfoley.bandcamp.com/album/cardia...

@rincewind.run I was digging around for my favorite Pratchett quote today and thought of you after I found it. Basically this entire page, and the three lines on the following: "Does what?" "Make a sound. If it falls down when no one's there to hear it." "Who cares?"

In 2014, a building collapsed next to the office I worked in crushing a bunch of cars parked next to it. Google added snowflakes for fun. This is still very funny to me.

For reasons, I'm setting up a private CA. This is the write-up I found that was the easiest for me to understand: jamielinux.com/docs/openssl...

Wired is $5 digital and $6 digital+print right now for a year. I just signed up on the back of their quality coverage in the last two weeks.

I remember the generous actions Gander, Newfoundland, CA did for my country in the wake of 9/11. This current situation is stupid and ridiculous. It hurts everyone and helps neither of us. Short sighed and incompetent.

I picked this weekend to visit Canada.

I'm reading Gideon the Ninth, and it's great. It *feels* like Ancillary Justice or Embers of War while being something **very** different.

The Boston Logan International Airport doesn't suck.

I want to be part of building a better world the full greatness of which I will not live to see.

I woke up feeling optimistic today. Not because the world is great. But because it’s nice to know where we stand. And where we stand is beautiful, no doubt about it. It’s all very much worth defending.

once my little sister called 911 and said my grandma was under the table. we never figured out why she said that. grandma was not under the table.

my mom: "it's your birthday soon!" me: "yep, i'll be 39!" my niece: "39?? that's a year away from 50!!" 💀💀💀💀💀

Just making sure that everyone is aware of this crab that NOAA scientists found

A company working like a startup is a company borrowing heavily on the future in the hopes they find something that can pay down the technical debt they will, out of necessity, accumulate.

Cold!

I’m re-reading the dictionary, and it occasionally body slams the fuck out of me. for instance, did you know: 1) graffiti is the plural, and there exists a singular noun 2) that singular noun is “graffito” graffito. graffito! as in: “one graffito on my block, pls, as a treat.” deranged.

max threads is just a number

Good news: I figured out why my change had a momentary negative impact on latency. Better news: the open source project has a `// TODO: Should this iteration be capped?` comment precisely at the problem. Bad news: to explain why it matters in my case, I have to admit to Horrors.
