I don't run the Barkley but I run the Barkley sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vS7bFn8RH5Na4vVxNijCsFCiHeYqRksDi5D9ddC9Fz4yK7nOQhEg8HwG78lz-PFVB2EkFn4QlJKEXMV/pubhtml

Oh sorry that was not intentional, that note was meant to be an identifier before a name was put to the time. I have no idea who nondescript guy is

Very possible, think of "a couple french runners and back to the future guy" being together at the fire tower. But my loop 1 split assignments are going to be guesses no matter what I do

John and Tomo are estimates too, just a little more informed. Tomo has a certain loop 2 departure time and we can guess at how long his time in camp was; for John I have (approximate) info on the time of day he came in, which I can turn into Barkley time and look for which splits are closest to.

Correct, the assignments between loop 1 times and runner names will be wildly inaccurate

There hasn't even been a 23h+ time that could do that

Loop 1 cutoff is 13:20
Loop 2 cutoff is 26:40
Loop 3 cutoff is 40:00 for the fun run or 36:00 if you want to continue
Loop 4 cutoff is 48:00
Loop 5 cutoff is 60:00
So the cutoffs change pace halfway through, but there is only one cutoff per loop except the third

It's also possible that one runner has multiple flags representing them. Last year there were both a ukrainian and a canadian flag, with Ihor Verys being the only one to apply to either of them

Is that Richard Shannon you're referring to?

Good point, weird that we got all of those up front but maybe all the state flags are next to each other

Oh for sure! I thought Brazil at first glance and hadn't come around to this shot until now. Good find

Nevada for sure, you can see the same set of flags from the other side here

Most years have some runners whose names we never find out. Nothing beyond the Loop 1 finishers is ever guaranteed

Yup! Florida is similar but its coat of arms is big enough that we would notice it even from this angle
