This is the Russia-Ukraine story again. I'll let you guess who's who in this one.

In one of my poli sci classes we learned that every empire has an expiration date. Turns out this may be America’s. Trump will be successful. He’s gonna succeed in overturning American hegemony and ushering in a new world order. Wild.

Does Donald genuinely think he can yo-yo tariffs while disrespecting a foreign nation(s) while continuing to threaten us like some common school yard bully? Where are all the media articles exclaiming he's showing signs of dementia because y'all, he keeps demonstrating he's OUT TO LUNCH.

Nope. Not good enough. No tariffs and a fucking apology. Enough of this bullshit. You can’t have a stable economy when a madman keeps jerking your chain. Let his big business donors take it on the chin. You know, how they expect everyone else to take it.

This is outrageous. *screams into the void* Trump to revoke legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians as US steps up deportations - www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

I just want to say, as a rural Canadian who lives in a country overrun with Mexican cartels (according to Peter Navarro and the White House,) I’m deeply disappointed with my lack of access to Mexican restaurants. I could use a tamale and an enchilada while we hand out pill presses and sell drugs.

I always say there are more idiots out there than intelligent people, but hot damn, it is amazing to me that the dumbest mofo out there managed to find his way behind the desk of the oval office. Of all the things I'd be embarassed about if I were American, this would be top of my list.

Lol, no, Trudeau isn't "using" tariffs to stay in power. The Liberal Party is literally voting this week to pick a new leader. Jesus, read a fucking book, America, and you might know that other countries have different systems of govt.

Liberal govt says it won't settle for anything less than no tariffs because we already have a trade agreement and that's the correct response to Trump and his insane need for chaotic attention.

SOTU reminded me why the Romans organized gladiator fights in the Colosseum. Distract the plebs. Give them some entertainment and they'll complain less about their living conditions. It still works to this day.

So this wasn't an insider trading deal, right? Announce tariffs, buy the dip, back off tariffs? I mean, that would be both the best-case, and an indication of how mad this is bsky.app/profile/chad...

Several weeks ago we heard, "annexing Canada is just a negotiating tactic" and now they're mentioning "kinetic action". The rot is deep in the US admin. #ElbowsUp 💪💥

Oh look, our beloved (lolz) Albertan Premier has been shamed into DOING HER JOB. Will she do it well? I'm not holding my breath but I guess we will see. Alberta may have our share of Maple Maga chuckleheads, but we're a proud province of CANADIANS.

And yet, America is silent over it....

Thread. And yup. This is why I keep coming back to Loretta Ross's incredible interview with @anandwrites.bsky.social in his book, The Persuaders. We can make huge change with people we only agree with 15% of the time. Also, we do need to work with people who drive us crazy sometimes too.

Every morning my social feeds are filled with a GROWING number of very thoughtful Americans rationalizing and explaining why Ukraine should just stop warring with Russia. They’re polite (some even charming) as they explain why Trump is right and the world is wrong. The resistance remains silent.

No word tonight from Danielle Smith on Trump’s tariffs, no word tonight from Danielle Smith on Trump pulling all aid to Ukraine, and no word from Danielle Smith since Trump and Vance berated the President of Ukraine four days ago. Danielle Smith is unfit to be the Premier of Alberta.

A reminder to Albertans that our beloved (hahaha) Premier worships at the altar of Trump, despite him illegally tearing up a trade agreement & slapping tariffs on our entire nation; while also remaining silent on his treatment of Ukraine and Zelensky as he threatens to withdraw US aid to Ukraine.

It’s not perfect but it’s a start. 🇨🇦

This is very good news for freedom of expression, @natepike.bsky.social, The Breakdown AB, and #ABpoli #ABleg watchers!

I no longer enjoy opening up the internet and discovering what the world is up to. I remember being told, by a friend, that I was naive for expecting politicians to have morals and ethics. I was naive for expecting people to choose right over wrong. I’m still naive. And now I’m also scared.

Un-Fun fact: UCP cuts AISH by exact amount of money the UCP overpaid Sam Mraiche’s MHCare for children’s pain and fever medication we never got and he never ordered. #ableg #abpoli www.stalbertgazette.com/local-news/a...

I don't know what to call my MLA about anymore. Do I yell about the alleged medical contract interference and scandal? Do I yell about the lack of funding & the ongoing strike keeping support staff out of schools? Do I yell about AISH supports being reduced? Canadian sovereignty? It's overwhelming.

I am stupefied. I'm not American. And I've been banging pretty hard on the Canadian drum since Don started nattering about Canada and how we're terrible neighbours and worse allies. But this? This is a level of disrespect never witnessed by the public, coming out of the Oval office. Unbelievable.

“Will the Premier acknowledge today that hiding things from Albertans is unethical and commit that it will never happen again?” ~Brian Jean “Is making government less open, less transparent, and less accountable part of the change your government brings to Alberta?” ~Ric McIver #ableg #abpoli #AHS

I really hope Ontarians are motivated to vote today and don't feel hopeless or indifferent. Too much hangs in the balance, between the illegal trade war the madman below is intent on starting, sovereignty, the future of public health and of course, general provincial issues. Politics matter. VOTE!
