Thanks, Anita. A little too much coffee this morning--but that guy really is a mutant. 😂

I'm still on X, Susan, but I find myself deleting my more incendiary posts. No need to step on the anthill. Some old broad told me to "jam it in [my] jello" the other day then blocked me before I could reply with...

Cool, accomplished, articulate: all the things they couldn't possibly hope to be. And he can hit an NBA three.

Hi-yo, Silver! Away! That would appear to be the Lone Ranger without his horse Silver, BC.

The only thing missing is the goddamn crucifix, Susan.

To say nothing of nominating a likely child rapist with no administrative, judicial, or trial experience to be Attorney General of the United States. And that's just the most gruesome of Trump's horror-show cabinet nominees.

Boy, Luci, this is tough. I'm answering quickly so I don't have time to reconsider:
1. Joy Division (a landmark)
2. Clash (a career high point?)
3. Specials (loads of fun)
4. Pretenders (top 10 best debuts)

Maya, I once had a job I liked so much that I actually looked forward to Mondays. I got RIFed of course.

Welcome back to sanity, BC. I'm a newcomer myself and can report a happy decline in my blood pressure. As for the missing pet, I'm going to take a blind stab and say Rin Tin Tin.

Three-way coin flip between (among?) the old man album, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. Today I'm leaning toward Houses, Luci.

There's a book fair downtown today. I'm tempted to ditch football and see if I can find the Waugh titles you mentioned. Lovely day. Seems a shame to spend it inside. Thanks again for the recs.

Thank you, FC. Forgot about Brideshead.

My pleasure. Any Waugh recommendations are appreciated. I've read Scoop and Decline and Fall, but it's been a while.

Lucky Jim is my favorite book, FC. I've read a few of his other novels, which are funny but lack what, for me, are the frequent laugh-out-loud moments--and set pieces--of Jim. Please don't get me wrong. They're still highly enjoyable reads. The Old Devils and Girl, 20, come to mind.

I agree, BB, but I was thinking more of Trump's gruesome cabinet picks and assface Musk's prominence in the transition.

Elvis, AJ, but in fairness, I've just scratched the surface with respect to Van Morrison.

There's conservative then there's the racist, anti-Semitic, misogynistic, etc., bilge you get on Twitter these days. Maybe we can at least talk her into opening a Bluesky acct, so we don't have to stick around that hellscape.

I think she's traveling. We can probably convince her to straddle. I dunno. Twitter's such a goddamn sewer, maybe she'll make the switch completely.

I'm with you, BB. I think I'll do that until I'm reasonably sure my Twitter friends have made the switch. Since I only have about seven Twitter friends, it shouldn't take too long. 😁
