The number of offsides while we battered away at the English try line 14+ times or wtvr it was that were just ignored… English defence is solid but it’s not that good by a long shot.

February has zero respect for itself, pushover of a month, no sticking ability!

I was saying to a pal on Sunday that it feels like we might as well go full Rassie right now—if they’ve been pleading their case quietly behind the scenes literally nothing has changed for years so that process is fairly pointless. Might as well blow it up, though not our style at all.

Most consecutive pens against a team in the history of the tournament they said I believe—in a game where we were absolutely pumping Wales too, go figure. But seriously can’t remember the last important call that favoured us.

People love to rag on Scotland not succeeding, but please someone tell me another nation that goes from no try for us v France last year with a clear grounding, to try against us v England this year which was clearly held up. Can’t remember the last vital 50/50 we got, nvm Itoje diving over rucks.

That is bloody infuriating.

Sums it up. Was a real microcosm of Scotland the last few years. Scored some worldies, butchered the chances we should be putting away, came out on the wrong side of the big decisions. How we don’t get that try v France last year and also don’t get that held up yesterday—lord help us!

100%—and this is sadly the failing of Townsend. If we can’t beat the big teams like IRE/SA/AB etc we need to beat the teams we’re better than and give ourselves chances for silverware. That WALvIRE game was almost more condemning of SCO than their own loss today.

Said the same thing on the fascist’s platform. 1/3 of the national team is coming from total week and out dysfunction, with a lack of cohesion, intensity, and dynamism. It has to have consequences. No wonder Leinster makes up almost the whole Irish team.

Been a bit of the forgotten man but was thinking of him all day today—Irish speed and dynamism killed Scotland and Christie brings that in spades. It almost seems like Scotland get hesitant vs Ireland, and then the unforced errors build and build as they start thinking too much and trying too hard.

No problem—agree it’s one that gets to the heart of things. A French friend the other day mentioned that the west have become obsessed with Liberty and forgotten entirely about Equality and Fraternity, which I thought was apt as well.

Anything to not have to actually act like a Labour Party apparently. Was a great article in the NS last week describing labour’s obsession with ‘welfare-state capitalism’ as opposed to actual socialist progress to equality. www.newstatesman.com/ideas/2025/0...

Was his favourite of his own poems correct? If I remember right?

Need to find a way to read this—I did do some Brodsky things when I visited Venice including going to his favourite lunch spot for a few glasses of wine and soft shell crab. They still had some pics up on the walls of him.
