No one will read them. This is a way to check how afraid people are & how much power Doge has. If people just ignore the demand, it will signal to Doge that they don’t have as much control as they think.
comment in response to post
Even if people comply with the order, they are likely to be fired. It’s less a loyalty test than a way to verify their power. The more people who don’t comply, the less power they have.
comment in response to post
He did this same dumb stuff at Twitter when he took over. Nothing shows that you have no idea how things work like these types of demands. No one who knows anything about running a company or a government department would do this.
comment in response to post
Canada wants them, too.

I had hoped that if Trump got really out of hand we could rely on the military to hide the nuke codes from him, or otherwise thwart the worst of his ideas. Now it seems he’s setting it up so the military will follow orders no matter how insane. It’s terrifying.

These people are the same ones saying higher education is useless and people should go into the trades, where your body gives out at 50. Retiring at 70 isn’t feasible for most people, especially with how the US handles healthcare.

We all know that money is never going to be sent. However all the MAGAs will believe ‘til their dying breath that it will be in tomorrow’s mail. To think otherwise is to admit they were wrong.
comment in response to post
Wow. What a horrific take.
comment in response to post
This is about a country’s sovereignty, and you are talking about money. It’s pathetic. And no, I’m not mad, just disgusted with you and everyone else making excuses & justifications like what Trump is doing isn’t horrific.

And before you say “but I said I applaud her!”, you also asked her to soften her stance against a song that is associated with white supremacy. Don’t make excuses for people if you don’t want to be associated with their politics. A person at the table with Nazis is a Nazi.
comment in response to post
That’s a terrible excuse. No one should play that song. Why shouldn’t someone hate a song that represents oppression of other human beings?! Why do *you* find that song acceptable?
comment in response to post
Elon is the way he is because he is an entitled Nazi, period. It’s offensive to claim his horrendous actions are due to anything less than being a rich asshole racist.
comment in response to post
If Elon is hedging on his IQ I guarantee he has been tested, and there is a record of it somewhere he is worried will be exposed. Elon isn’t a tech genius, despite really wanting everyone to believe that.
comment in response to post
Don’t blame his terrible behavior on autism. He is a racist and an opportunist. He’s not particularly smart, and is objectively a terrible human being. None of that is related to autism - sociopathy, maybe, but not autism.

Canada has a digital nomad rule that lets people work remotely for up to 6 months at a time. If you need to move quickly, it could help.
comment in response to post
Huge opportunity for Canada, in my opinion. Despite what US politicians & tech bros think, AI won’t replace the need for higher education & researchers.
comment in response to post
The good news is that as an unelected foreigner, Elon doesn't have much legal standing once the tide starts to turn against him. If Trump gets jealous or Republican leaders think he will cost them politically or financially, they will get rid of him. I'm sad that it's taking longer than I expected.
comment in response to post
Trump will push through laws to ensure permanent Republican rule if he can. Playing nice and trying to meet Republicans part way will get the Dems nowhere. They need to be loud, they need to call out lies, and they need to help educate the public on what is happening or there won't be another chance
comment in response to post
So because they aren't in power they should just sit there & take it? AOC is the only one doing anything - her anger & advocacy are helpful and inspiring to others. The Dems should have taken action when they were in power, but they didn't. Now is the time to stand up, to protest, to disrupt.
comment in response to post
Democrats are still trying to play by the rules, and that needs to stop if they want to get anything done. AOC is the only one who seems to be doing anything useful, and make no mistake that anger and defiance ARE useful. It's obedience to the rules that is making the Dems toothless.

Canada and other nations will recruit the doctors, scientists, and other experts, setting back America decades. The US is going to fall behind, especially with all the rhetoric that AI can replace actual human expertise (it can't).
comment in response to post
They are cowards trying to save their jobs, but ultimately they will end up on the firing line along with everyone else. By sucking up & complying in advance they are guaranteeing a worse outcome for society & ultimately themselves.
comment in response to post
I'm genuinely afraid that some Jan 6th Magas will try to come north and try to "liberate" Canada in Trump's name. Canada will detain the idiots and it will become a rallying point for Trump to continue to push his agenda. This type of article is dangerous because it makes the idea seem reasonable.
comment in response to post
Canada does not want to be part of the US. Stop treating it like this is a normal situation & talking about how Democrats can benefit. This is an attack on a sovereign nation, not some interesting philosophical discussion!
comment in response to post
Canadians don't want to hear about how our votes would impact elections. WE DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF AMERICA. We will fight for our freedom.
comment in response to post
AI models only know what humans have ready discovered/done. What happens when research is dead because people rely on AI? We need to stop devaluing education or our growth will stop. AI has its place, but it is not a replacement for advanced education.
comment in response to post
Canada should join them.
comment in response to post
Unfortunately very few Americans are fighting back. It’s sad to see.

The US is going to cut off all aid funding, but then complain that Nato countries aren’t giving enough military spending to deal with conflicts *they* start.
comment in response to post
People don’t know because they don’t want to know. The information is easily available, but any time they see or hear something against Trump, they shut off their brains. You can’t talk people out of willful ignorance.
comment in response to post
The country suggesting relocations never wants people to relocate to *their* country. They just want to offload their problem to somewhere else. Then a few years down the road conflict erupts and it’s not *their* problem, but <relocation country>’s issue.
comment in response to post
It's a tremendous opportunity for Canada. I hope we take advantage of it and bring those scientists & opportunities north. It will take some time to build the necessary infrastructure, but we already have companies in the space.

What’s your proof they are collecting free healthcare? They would need to be living in Canada with a Canadian health card to do so.
comment in response to post
We’d love to see you in Canada, especially the West Coast. I was so bummed I couldn’t make it the last time you played here.

Canada will never become the 51st state. Never.

Only the older Gen X got those benefits. The younger ones (50 & under) are in the same situation as many Millenials.

I don't understand people who sat out due to Gaza. Trump and the Republicans were always going to be worse for Palestinians, but people wanted an excuse not to vote for a woman. Throwing the entire nation under the bus over that one issue was misguided at best.
comment in response to post
Doesn't matter if it's economic force or not. Canada is not for sale to the US at any price. These statements are advocating for the takeover of a sovereign nation. That should frighten everyone, regardless of the mechanism proposed.

Canada sent him all the info needed to show there wasn't a flood of fentanyl across the boarder. He's still coming after us (there is no drug issue at the Canadian boarder - he's lying).
comment in response to post
It’s frustrating because there is nothing Canada can do to “prove” that we have fixed a problem that doesn’t actually exist. Trump wants to be a big man & throw his weight around, but he’s making enemies and we will all suffer.
comment in response to post
I know you are aware, but the “flow of drugs” lies from politicians are so stupid. There are no drugs. Trump is just using that excuse to get around the trade deal *he* negotiated. He needs a national security excuse & drugs are convenient. The truth is there is no justification for the tariffs.
comment in response to post
So a friend is supposed to let themselves be bullied? I don’t think so.
comment in response to post
It’s not Canada’s fault that America is in this situation. Is Canada supposed to just play nice & roll over? That hasn’t been working well for the Democrats. Sometimes you have to fight. I’m sorry that it’s come to this.
comment in response to post
I don’t want Trump to be able to claim victory. I want everyone in the world to see and understand what a ridiculous, clueless buffoon he is.

Maybe they should deport all those Americans who like to overstay at their holiday homes in Mexico. I’m sure Canada has a few as well - at least 1 Jan 6th rioter.

Tesla’s probably better off with him distracted. The last time they had his attention, he came up with the Cybertruck.

I wish I could. I have work travel next week. Not happy about it.
comment in response to post
Trump wants to be a big man & impose tariffs and his excuses for doing so aren't real. All the proof in the world about border security won't stop him, because it was never about the border, or jobs. I believe Canada & Mexico will survive better than America, especially if they work together.

If you can only compete by stealing, then maybe your idea isn’t that good.

Authorities will make sure any demonstration isn’t peaceful, guaranteed.
