God it's a fucking shit show. These people are so stupid.

Agree, and they are so dumb they're a random click away from being phished into installing spyware on their devices. Compromised devices is how you get hacked, not by signal itself being hacked. And properly secured devices (you can secure consumer devices) would be less prone to user mistakes.

It's the insecure way in which Signal is used and victims' susceptibility to phishing which caused those leaks, not a weakness in Signal ptp encryption itself. Physical access to devices sans passcode or users clicking dodgy qrcodes. Sufficient training can avoid that www.politico.eu/article/russ...

No doubt caused by DEI. Not to worry Trump is in office now, he'll issue an Executive Order for the fire to stop. Hail our glorious leader!

They have a saying at Bluesky, and from what I understand this comes from even before BS was independent of X, "the organisation is the future adversary"

Yep it's getting there. I'm just crossing fingers that it will be fully ensconced without any reliance on BS (the way for example Activitypub doesn't rely on Mastodon gGmbH) before the billionaires get to BS. I trust Jay Graber though (who has controlling interest in BS)

Exactly. AP is a good idea, but it's a bit more top heavy so getting it to true federation is a little more difficult. If it does achieve federation it will be better than ActivityPub.

Australia too. Though fat chance of that, our PM (Labor PM too) is too busy sucking up to Trump in fear that we'll be slighted (which we will be any way, when it comes down to the wire)

They are also going to threads which has seen a jump in users, as well as others like instagram. But why would they go to Bluesky rather than say threads? I think the freedom from algorithms is no small drawcard for people moving from X to BS.

I mean technically there's a lower percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere than in the ocean, but I can't imagine there'd be any risk using it underneath the waves (I mean apart from it shorting out), so I think you'll be okay. 😂

True, I can do something about that. I can be a voice, protest, vote. Not much but there's a lot of us.

Next election they'll need to exit poll like a motherfucker. Shadow poll every single vote. Then scrutinise every thing.

You can't ignore white male applicants in favour of black and female applicants. But you can ignore white applicants in favour of your friend. MAGA.

I'm probably more inclined to vote for him this time just because despite Labor's failing, Dutton is still many times worse and far more a risk to our way of life than Labor, sadly. I will definitely vote Greens Preference Labor where I know Greens preferences will go to Labor should they not win.

Yep. The US sub program short 17 subs and they have declared they will not fill Australian orders until their own needs are filled, which may not even happen. Albo paid $800 million so Trump would say he's a "very good person".

They could have tweaked it to ensure white people weren't ignored (not that that was happening), where suitable diverse applicants weren't ignored by defaulting to straight white males. But now, people will be afraid to hire non straight white males in case they get accused of implementing DEI.

Israel on form here. In any given ceasefire or peace plan process, it's always Israel who break the peace first. They have no interest in peace only in pretending to be interested in peace (and that, a thinly veiled pretence)
