You said that before and it’s still so far from the truth.

We’ll agree to totally disagree. Good luck being frustrated “in Stearns we trust” in the 2025 season.

We love him. He’s nowhere close to one dimensional. He’s not asking anywhere close to Soto or Judge or Ohtani money or even duration on their contracts. You may want to stop repeating the company line. They’re not the ones taking the field.

Thank you for cutting and pasting statistics. I didn’t see your comparison w/ Judge of post season when Pete was just about 30 years old? Ever hear of a bounce back year? Ever consider Soto’s stats in his inevitable down years or how he’ll be less effective without Judge or Pete batting behind him?!

Sadly true.

You’re so right. He’s been a bargain ever since his rookie contract. And now people dismiss him because of lower numbers at 30 years old. 30!!! It’s a disgrace.

What an insult to a true, dedicated Mets player. What an insult to us long-suffering, lifelong Mets fans.

We have always been impatient with our players. Jeff Kent, Kevin Mitchell, Edgardo Alfonso, Daniel Murphy, even Straw, you can probably name a few more. I want consistency and that’s one strong reason behind my take.

And I appreciate your thoughtful take.

Maybe it’s because we’re fans of a New York team, that we think free agents will automatically come to the Mets. But there’s not a lot of history that we would get Guerrero and others and I’d rather win it all next year with Pete than assume the best about new players in 2026.

Well, that’s why we’re fans. To see how our players perform each year and Im not convinced he’s going to be worse than he was last year. In fact, maybe he shouldn’t have played 162 games plus the playoffs, that some days off would’ve been good for him.

And true, the Seaver disgrace is different than what’s happening with Pete. But this situation does stir up feelings that I had back in the day.

I totally agree with you regarding Seaver and Dick Young. And yes, Pete rejected 7 years before the season. But few players sign before their free agency takes effect. The Mets are better with Pete than without. And all this clouds our uncertain pitching. It’s an ego war between Stearns & Boros

Wow, I haven’t read a response like that since I was on Twitter. Not sure why you can’t have a discussion and why you need to use the word stupid and imbecile.

Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if owners aren’t colluding. He’s 30 and could easily DH late into his 30s. Pete is more than one dimensional, while last season he “struggled,” he’s proven to be a solid fielder, a good teammate, and a clutch hitter, much more than Aaron Judge, when it truly counts.

Jerry, he’s only 30 and deserves 5-6 years @ $25 mil. Mets are being vindictive because Pete rejected previous offer.
