A career in defense contracting and tech taught me how the world works. Now I learn languages and study how they are influenced by history and culture.

I had no idea it was so many. You've put the loss in perspective for me.

Thanks for this post, Aaron. I used it as the basis for today's call to John Cornyn, the less worthless of my two senators. He'll ignore me, but I won't shut up.

This law-and-order independent is taking notice of Van Hollen. Both my senators are MAGA tools, so seeing someone working for a constituent and the American people is a breath of fresh air.

What a great post!

What I noticed about Van Hollen is that he hasn't sent me a single fundraising text or email yet. It's like money wasn't the point. 🤔

Seems newsworthy that a man convicted of 34 felonies is denying anyone due process. The irony seems to be lost on our media.

How insane is it that law-abiding citizens have to protect themselves against illegal acts being committed by the US President, Department of Justice, and Department of Homeland Security? I wish you safety on your journeys.

A woman using a married name proves she's a citizen with her birth certificate and marriage certificate. I'm sure it's a real pain when there's been a divorce and remarriage. After getting my passport I mentioned to my unmarried daughter that there's no good reason to change our names at marriage.

Is this like the Shadow Cabinet Cheri Jacobus has been advocating for? Two characteristics are essential: 1) It must be done under the auspices of Congress. 2) It must be anchored by the same person consistently. If these are not met, I'm not contributing to the DNC anymore. Seriously.

Free Link to NYT article: I must disagree with the speaker. The president doesn't have a strategy. He has urges. As for our current situation playing out, Thomas Friedman's op-ed in NYT gives us a good look into our future with China if we "give it time." www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/o...

Have you read Anxious People by Fredrik Backman? It's a quirky mystery with great characters, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

With so much real horror surrounding around us, all jokes are little islands of sanity.
