First time I've seen anyone point out that this is also a book tour-fair point. Sanders doesn't get enough criticism failing to build a sustained movement.
But this is still a more strategic approach than anything Jeffries is doing which is waiting it out, doing nothing. A meaningful difference.

I gotta admit I don't know what to make of it at all. It's up 50% compared to six months ago but down 10% compared to a year ago. Seems like nothing means anything?

Ive seen so many that fancy themselves independent thinkers who demonstrate this type of ignorance. Who somehow miss how well and coordinated Rs have used obstruction power when in the minority. Who are more concerned with decorum and norms than recognizing where power sits, how its created and used

The same shit as you, except for whatever "protest shopping" is.
I've also never been stupid enough to vote for Rs.
Recognizing that elected Ds have the power to do more than they are doing is not whining. It's correct. The fact that you can't see that does not make you smart, quite the contrary.

Okay, what are you doing then? What is the action that makes the people you are claiming to be the most responsible (Dem voters who stayed home?) accountable and this makes a difference in the immediate, near, or far future? Genuine question since Dem electeds are powerless.

I mean the spread between young men and young women seems consistent from 2020 to 2024, no? The gap was there with Biden. Dems lost about 14 points among the youth overall.

Trump ended all hope of seeing them completed. Now all NJ residents will experience a 20% increase to our electric bills. There is no negotiating with Trump's wanton destruction. At least some governor out there understands what we're up against.

Much like Biden, any of the good the Murphy administration has accomplished, all of that progress, will go up in flames, is already crumbling bc of Trump. We had four offshore wind farms in the works that would have substantially added capacity to the power grid.

I went to my union meeting and not only was I the only one there besides the three leaders of my local, but when I asked questions about how the union planned to put pressure on politicians to respond to the current criminal acts coming from the federal government it was treated as outlandish.

It's also gotta be what Dems actually do. Not doing that from jump in 2020 has been their likely fatal mistake. If they were showing any signs of being aware of that now, making efforts to correct course I'd have more hope. These feckless cowards need to be replaced with a real opposition party fast

Thank you! This was a goddamn stealth mission. That Sauron expected them to use the ring In battle against him. That they would entrust it with only the powerful and important. Not some anonymous little dude who would sneak in the backdoor and melt it. Jesus this is not even subtext IT'S TEXT!

I was wondering this myself. It's a good idea, and I would love to see even a shred of similar thinking coming from my state's electeds, but I don't see how this idea can be implemented. Even if it could, I imagine we could expect actual military force from the feds at this point.

A real leader tells us how they will lead, the actions they will take, the work they are doing. There is a complete lack of this coming from Dems right now.

Ofc if Biden did do that, he'd be getting blamed for "opening the doors" to Trump's lawlessness now, bc somehow SOMEHOW people still believe that if Ds don't violate a norm it will preserve the norm when Rs have power, thus protecting the minority constituency despite all evidence to the contrary
comment in response to

Yes and it fills me with fury. I've always said one advantage Rs have over Ds is, it's far easier to destroy than to build. Building a better gov takes so much coordination. But one progressive act that can be accomplished by destruction is erasing debt. Simply do it.

Wealth is the only strength this weak, pathetic man has. Unfortunately, wealth is a heavy hammer in our corrupt system. We need to be prepared for those blows. Only sustained, incandescent outrage can bring him to heel. But if we can do it, he'll crumble. He is a worm to be crushed.

Do we think the Dems are taking turns being the one or two confirm votes on every candidate to avoid scrutiny of any one politician but signal to Trump that he can expect acquiescence from the party on the whole? I know I'm full Dale Gribble at this point.

If LOTR illustrates one thing about evil it’s that you cannot outrun it by fleeing to another place. There is nowhere that something like this will not find you. So you have to fight where you are.

Not all things fit our current time/cultures but I do find interesting her observations on gender relations among the people she identifies as those who would never go nazi and those who are nazi at heart. That fits what we see today. 7/7

the generation which was either young or unborn at the end of the last war. This is as true of Englishmen, Frenchmen, and Americans as of Germans. It is the disease of the so-called “lost generation.” 6/

there are full-blooded Jews who have enthusiastically entered Hitler’s secret service. Nazism has nothing to do with race and nationality. It appeals to a certain type of mind. It is also, to an immense extent, the disease of a generation— 5/
