indies can't "save us". that sentiment is a well-meaning, comforting reduction designed to paper over a need for fundamental change, and stop consumers from thinking differently about art indies are stuck in it with the rest of them. what comes after will not be what came before.

I am not trying to be cruel but I agree: it is an enormously bad time to be trying to break into games. It’s a bad time to be a senior+ in games even, & I don’t see it improving soon. By all means, keep making art you care about, but it’s so unlikely to be a “pay the bills” career at this point.
