My thoughts exactly: who else has been included in other highly confidential chats? This time we got lucky

I’ve changed my position on the govt shutdown: there’s too much at stake wrt fed agency dismantling, Ukraine/Russia, and the Middle East (not to mention the future of NATO and (stupidly) now major power plays over the Panama Canal), for Congress to pout and refuse to play its role

I’m one of your biggest fans, but he and the others make a good point: in the event of a govt shutdown TrumpMusk will use that for massive harm that would take inordinate time to undo, and time is critical. Instead they sat relevant to key issues like Ukraine and the Middle East

(5/3 fin) last time it took a combination of tech innovation that boosted productivity across sectors and Clintonian centrism and focus on the cost of basic commodities that finally brought us out, after two decades… (the effects on poorer nations will be worse, so expect unrest, repression & wars)

(Bonus 4/3) this could propel innovation and investment in tools to combat fraud and crime, though ultimately we’ll have to deal with the underlying factors. And this is what the opposition party should be focused on: both rhetorically and planning. Last time it was a mix of

(3/3) This is bad, and the lack of opportunity combined with a high cost of living will induce many people into crime, including fraud. Expect fraud, which is already terrible, to go varsity. so will other property crimes and violence, at a time when police departments are understaffed. (ok, more..)

(2/3)… that unruly duo is that central bank tools have the effect of tamping down one at the expense of boosting the other: lowering interest rates to spur lending to create jobs ends up boosting prices. Raising interest rates to decrease consumption and prices raises unemployment. (more…)

I think I read the thread differently, as an explanation of model error due to data timing and how a spike in a negative element now channels into rising positive elements later, creating a smoothing function when viewed retroactively over time. That said, the economy will contract.

How is this not a time, manner, place restriction rather than a limit on speech? It’s not preventing self-publishing original content online. A specific search algorithm enabling filtering and redelivery of such content is not inherently speech.

I’m so glad to hearing you voice this. Finger wagging at a clearly inappropriate (yes, outrageous) response ignores a very real communal sentiment it has unleashed

Using a mirror to formulate a response: It’s the hippopotame of autocracy.

Marc, you’re being drafted by those operating outside the normal power structures. Be open to it.

Not to mention the Roberts Court’s disavowal of Marbury (and repudiation of every intervening Court) on July 1st of this year www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

Since a crypto *hedge* signals uncertainty in the dollar’s future value, this undermines the “full faith” proposition & will weaken the dollar and make financing the US debt much more expensive, sapping funds from other programs… their aim seems to be to weaken the US govt, unless they’re just { }

One woman Musk targets works on helping developing countries. Calling her work wasteful is myopic. Unsupported, such states tend to fail. Failed countries tend to export terrorism and violent messianism.

I once proposed for debate that democracy and the Internet are incompatible… Sadly, all eventually agreed
