The People's Union USA, a grassroots group, is calling on Americans to join a national boycott by not shopping for 24 hours on Friday.

What if we all quit our jobs and just played breath of the wild for the next three and a half years

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

JFC indeed.

Please help ban LGBTQ conversion therapy! Great news! Éire joins Finland & France as only EU countries to reach the threshold, now 4 more are needed. Closest are Belgium (57%), DK (34%), Germany (34%), NL (48%) & Slovenia (48%). So please share widely: eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#...

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn

The point of the firehose of Executive Orders is to disorient and to demobilize. It's to instill maximum fear. If we know this, then that's already half the battle. This means that we have to respond with focus on those most vulnerable & targets. It means we have to refuse their attempt to scare us.

I love this so much! At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions. This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

The Supreme Court ruled corporations were allowed to donate unlimited amounts to politicians in 2010. It only took them 6 years to take complete control of the government and 15 years to mark sure their voices are the only ones the masses ever hear again.

Please remember to wipe down the void when you’re done screaming into it there are other people at this gym too

Here is my strongest personal belief: the worst animal is better than the best human.

I used to wonder why my parents couldn't grasp technology but now any time I see something new I'm like, "Yeah, I'm not learning that."

Things that will give you a hangover before the age of 35: maybe alcohol Things that will give you a hangover after the age of 35: alcohol, no alcohol, sleeping too much, not sleeping enough, traffic, dreaming too hard, spicy food, too much sun, 4:30 meetings, fluorescent lighting, the news

Seeing a lot of *gaspsurprise* at this (very thorough and well written) article and not nearly enough people talking about Palmer being not just an enabler but ACTIVE PARTICIPANT in the (alleged) horrific serial sexual, physical, and psychological abuse of AT LEAST one young woman.

Whew. The Gaiman story is horrifying on so many levels AND Amanda Palmer serving up vulnerable young women to him and exploiting someone for labor is also horrifying.

I really appreciated this belated obit for Karon Wynn Fonstad, cartographer of the Tolkien Atlas (and the maps for Dragonriders of Pern!) and not only for this killer quote re the Tolkien Atlas, "It was like the Velvet Underground of fantasy mapmaking": www.nytimes.com/2025/01/13/o...

This is a non paywalled link to the article on Neil Gaiman's sexual abuse. Fellow survivors: do not read it. Just get the gist from somewhere. The darkness of Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer is overwhelming. archive.ph/79BtW

I’m not gonna read the Gaiman piece. I believe victims when they say he’s a monster. I don’t need the nauseating details. It’s perfectly ok for you to make the same choice. You’re not obligated to traumatize yourself.

I think... we can turn the "separate the art from the artist" phrase on its head, and say "no matter how much you love a story or a piece of art, never let the author, the storyteller or the artist become your master through that love"

I hate seeing people emphasising how much they love an author's work while trying to process the fact that he's a horrifying abuser. I just feel like that should be an inside thought right now. I get it, people are figuring out their feelings, but I also hate it lol.

At the moment, I'm not reading in front of a crackling fire in a Scottish Highlands cottage during a raging snowstorm whilst enjoying a plate of emotional support scones, so no, I'm afraid your email did not "find me well."

They’re banning TikTok not because it harvests data, the same way US social media does, but because they can’t influence it’s algorithm with congressional hearings or government contracts the way they do every other tech giant. That’s it.

Trump has promised to target ‘the radical left’ — what could that look like? Read more: www.teenvogue.com/story/trump-...

Hi, ASL interpreter of 30 yrs & a person w/ Deaf family here. In response to the anti-ASL horseshit going around: ASL and English are not the same language. ASL has no written form. Reading English subs is not = to seeing ASL & many Deaf ppl need sign to fully understand info.

Just sitting here, ruining my childhood by watching a documentary: Lisa Frank - Glitter and Greed #LisaFrank #Millenial

"Gender-focused climate solutions (...) often fail to engage with the deeper historical and structural forces driving the environmental destruction that disproportionately affects marginalized communities. #Gender #Climatechange #Colonialism ✍️ From our blog www.developmentresearch.eu?p=1980

The targeting of ASL is not ignorant. It's a test of whether the mainstream will shift a generally "acceptable" category of disabled person into the "disposable"/abject field, an outbranching of the renewed use of r-word + the long apprenticeship to disposability of vulnerable ppl that covid is

Anita Bryant isn't going to see your hurtful posts and jokes about her death but your friends who enjoy them will so that's what they call a win-win situation

In 1977, Vincent Price starred in a one-man-show where he played openly gay Oscar Wilde; it was condemned by Anita Bryant. When asked about her condemnation, Price replied that Wilde had already written a play about Anita: “A Woman of No Importance”

Anita Bryant, gone too late

If we can't spontaneously share a passionate kiss in the secluded corner of a quaint bookstore on a cobblestone side street in Prague during a raging snowstorm, then what's the point?

The autistic experience of being the safe space for people who are not a safe space for you.

There are families who will never be able to come back from this devastation, and many of them were in generational homes, passed down from people who bought homes in the 1970sand 80's in Altadena. All of the fires are a tragedy, but especially for those who don't have the resources to rebuild.
