A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him. So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.

just fyi the ides of march is coming up, if anyone would like to do the funniest thing of all time

Over the past five years, Washington, D.C.'s iconic Black Lives Matter street painting has served as a powerful symbol of activism and a gathering place for joy and resistance.

Let me save everyone some time and confusion: "White feminism," is not the same as "Feminists who are white." I learn from feminists who are white every day.👍🏿 But I reject white feminism entirely. It's a danger to Black people, and I address it like the threat that it is. I make no space for it.

"Bowser said she made the decision several days ago. When pressed about why, she said it was fair to say the White House didn’t like it." with democrats like these, who needs republicans

this chill on speech is not only anti-democratic, it’s also part of a pattern of directed violence by trump towards his enemies that goes back years and is why he should’ve been barred from running again. never forget who was on the wrong side of that, they can’t be our leaders in the post-trump era

The thing is lots of disabled ppl WOULD love to be working…if they were just afforded the space to work on their health/disability without the constant anxiety of the DWP taking away the minuscule breathing space benefits affords them to actually DO so.

So, after #google, now #apple has removed #womensday! 😔 Just shows that money absolutely corrupts and what a spineless weasel Tim Cook and all of the other motherfuckers of these big tech companies are, it's just unfuckingbelievable. #TimCook #collapse

I'm off my biologic until I can get another job and get insured again. My knees are swollen and aching, and my digestive system is an inflamed mess. It's really been difficult to not get down about things lately.

1/? I got out of this house on this cold snowy day and went to the local gun show down the street. One thing about gun shows these days is you get a sense of what MAGA is planning for. Let me explain.

In “Way of the Kings” there’s a cursed king who doesn’t know whether he will wake up a genius or an idiot each morning. That’s how I am now with anger. Today I am very angry.

Look, if you believe in kings, then let’s be honest—you can’t call yourself a patriot. You just can’t. You don’t get to wrap yourself in the flag of a country that was quite literally founded on rejecting a monarchy while, at the same time, wishing for one. That’s not how this works.

Glad this is out in the world now! I'm all for more opportunities for more people on #Twitch. Get out there and get the bag. blog.twitch.tv/en/2025/02/2...

While Republicans are trying to gut Medicaid, Maxwell Frost is calling out the grifter in chief! 👏👏👏👏

It's here, back on the desk where I drafted all of the card back art! Innovation Ultimate! A little teaser photo for now, more to come when I can steal a few more hours of sunlight. :D #boardgame

Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

Update: the game is HUGE ♡ It was a pleasure to work with @asmadigames.bsky.social on this! I did somewhere around 200 new icons with a "hidden world" theme, and yes, one is a jackalope 👀 #graphicdesign #tabletop

We're seeing spikes of anti-immigrant bullying across the country. This will go well with the planned US blackout on February 28th, too.

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

The #1 reported reason people avoid doctor’s appointments is because they’re afraid of finding out they have a serious illness. If you have that fear, that’s normal and you’re not alone. Also remember, there is basically no serious illness that isn’t less serious if you catch it sooner.

This

saying "go birds" but just rooting for birds in general, hope they're having fun and not catching that flu

this haptic display absolutely rocks. basketball is for everyone.

This is very nearly the text of the recently-surging-in-popularity 1944 OSS (proto-CIA) publication "Simple Sabotage Field Manual" which suggests, among other things: "WORK SLOWLY," "misroute materials," "snarl up administration in every possible way," & "misunderstand all sorts of regulations"💪

Good thread on organising/taking action while living with chronic illness.

It’s me. (Also @artificerind.bsky.social & Lucanis)

I want to be clear: gender affirming care remains available in Massachusetts for all who need it. My office and I will continue to enforce our state laws to ensure families can access it without fear of discrimination.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a Yiddish-language poster printed in Poland in 1945, encouraging concentration camp survivors to testify to their experiences. It reads, "Let the historical truth be a tomb for fascism!" while also citing the Passover holiday in the text in the book.

"Around 90 percent of the SS who worked at Auschwitz during the war escaped all forms of prosecution." —Laurence Rees, author of 'Auschwitz: A New History,' in a 2005 interview www.npr.org/2020/01/24/7...

I'm cute.

January 27 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Poland's Auschwitz concentration camp, where more than one million people, the vast majority of them Jews, were murdered. We look back at what happened at the notorious Nazi extermination camp ⤵️

men should moan more

Also here is a spreadsheet of displaced Black families from Altadena docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

A 67 year old amputee and wheelchair user lived with his son who had cerebral palsy. They were killed in the Eaton fire while waiting for an ambulance that never arrived. Many disabled people can not evacuate on their own. They need to be included in evacuation plans (yet almost never are)

Chewy posted this for those in fire affected areas, in case anyone is in need of veterinary help, or is looking to donate resources.

real “United States is an empire in collapse” hours right now

I’ve been trying to write an article on emergency preparedness when disabled. It’s so hard I would need 10 “go bags” to account for my complex medical needs. I can’t evacuate without assistance. Many places aren’t safe for me Disabled people need to be included in emergency plans

i don’t understand how, psychologically, a person gets to a place where they interpret sign language as some kind of attack or imposition on their life. like, what the fuck is wrong with you?

California has deployed 400 incarcerated firefighters to fight the LA blaze. They make $26 over 24-hr shift. “We’re doing this heroic, crucial work, but many ppl inside cannot support their family, can barely afford hygiene supplies. Nobody is saving money,” Amika Mota, former firefighter, told me
