I agree, though it's complicated.
1&2 are so fundamentally different that it's hard to definitively say that one is better than the other.
I *prefer* the first one, though I just love the creature capture battle system and story that's less about the world's politics.
But they're both fantastic!

Have you ever tried taking a simple humanoid model and posing it close to what you have in mind in something like Blender or SketchUp? That tends to help me a lot!
