Remember the Goolsbee Rule, which he calls the pathological irony of crisis: "if you lose your credibility, your statements begin to mean the opposite of what you say." www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/wit...

As the Trump administration pulls government websites and data offline, it is selectively stripping away the public record, letting the president declare his own version of history, archivists and historians said. nyti.ms/3E9ZtIT

Mark Kelly: "This is not surprising. Here's a guy who told Americans to inject bleach into their bodies, who sent a mob to Capitol Hill. And now I think it's fair to say he stands out as singlehandedly destroying more wealth with his bad decisions than anybody else who has ever lived on this planet"

We are speedrunning the Declaration of Independence, folks.

While golfing

The Lithuanian president showed up to honor dead American soldiers as their remains departed his country. The American president did not show up to receive their remains as they arrived in the US. He had a golf tournament to get to.

Perfection

So good. 🤡 @brendanvduke.bsky.social

Trump says the crash is “to be expected” because he “inherited a terrible economy” Reality: The Economist called 🇺🇸’s economy “the envy of the world” as Biden’s term ended 👇🏽 His trade war is to blame

"Think about what kind of person you have to be that you get caught lying [and] double down on the lie." I went on a rant about JD Vance, whose dishonesty is in some ways worse than Trump and Musk's. Full video: www.youtube.com/shorts/ftHmU...

I remain completely flabbergasted that the basic legality of this move is not foregrounded in the debate.

When Harris said it would be $4,000, the “fact-checkers” tut-tutted and claimed what she said was only “half true” because there were some lower estimates. The “fact-checkers” lied; Harris was telling the truth.

Pictured: the place which is, according to the Trump White House, apparently imposing 10% tariffs on the United States. Note the total lack of any human settlements there.

I don't expect any of our major media outlets to acknowledge this outright, but this is the thing: These aren't 'steep' tariffs, these are _insane_ tariffs. These are 'nobody in the White House understands decimal points' numbers. It speaks to total economic illiteracy _throughout the White House_.

This is true: The Trump administration said it has imposed a 10% tariff on the British Indian Ocean Territory, whose only inhabitants are the U.S. and U.K. service members at the military base on Diego Garcia.

The stupidity in Trump’s new tariffs is apparently limitless. He has introduced a 10% tariff on the British Indian Ocean Territory. The only inhabited island there is Diego Garcia, home to US service personnel. TRUMP HAS PUT A TARIFF ON A US MILITARY BASE 🤡

Once thing we can say for certain is that Donald Trump has been convicted of more crimes than some of the people he is deporting to a black hole in el salvador with no due process or recourse www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I guess I don't think these are "bribes" in the narrow technical legal sense, but they are obviously bribes in our lay understanding of the word. We'll give you $100 million in free services if you don't come after our firm. It's pure extortion - complete with a price tag!

The last day on which a majority of the Supreme Court’s justices had been appointed by Democratic presidents was May 14, 1969. One of the things we do in the legal academy is support our claims with facts.

‘Target suffers eighth week of foot-traffic losses since caving on DEI Costco, which resisted demands to end DEI, extends its streak of foot-traffic gains to 13.’

Just no words for this level of cruelty and enthusiasm for inflicting suffering on the poorest in our society

Murphy: "Newsflash: These guys are incompetent. They don't know what they're doing. We hired a weekend Fox News host with no diplomatic or management experience with a checkered personal history of abuse and alcoholism to be our chief national security official. And it's going very badly."

Real whiplash watching the Trump message go from “we’ll fix everything on day one” to “suck it up buttercup, this is gonna hurt.”

They meant “doing fraud waste and abuse” not “finding fraud, waste and abuse.” www.wired.com/story/doge-t...

Yet again the Vice President of the United States JD Vance is blatantly lying. The man is not a “convicted gang member” — he is a father of a disabled child married to a 🇺🇸 citizen, with no criminal record. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Oh my god. They deported a man who an immigration judge had declared was "more likely than not" to face persecution in El Salvador ... to El Salvador, during the big March 15 AEA flights! They outright admit it! Yet the Trump admin's response to a court is basically "oops, well, no take backsies."

I was struck by an Elon fan, in WI, asking if DOGE had found evidence that USAID was buying off politicians. Why? Bc 2+ months in, there's no misuse of funds scandal or "welfare queen"-esque money sponge found by DOGE. No fraud. It's just: "This program said 'trans' so we got rid of it."

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have frozen funding for federal programs that provide support and sustenance to dozens of millions of older adults and people with disabilities, including Meals on Wheels.

Trump did this

Just think what the reaction would be if Joe Biden, in his first months in office, had openly discussed overruling the 2nd Amendment. But Trump can do the same for the 22nd Amendment and it’ll be forgotten by evening and won’t prompt howls of outrage from every elected Dem or NYT headline writer.

The rule of law, being destroyed right in front of us. "For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law"

Hiring your brother is the original affirmative action for white people.

🤔👇🏽

He fired the black chairman of the joint chiefs for being woke and hired his brother.

"Persons being deported may be sent to countries other than their countries of origin" is INSANE

the massive gap between the breathless fear-mongering about encampment protests and the non-coverage of said college students being disappeared is really something

Yep

A few things to know about Trump's Trevor Milton pardon: - he was convicted of crimes related to defrauding investors - he was represented Pam Bondi's brother - he started generously donating to Republicans late last year - Trump seems to know very little about his case www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Unforgivable. And needless to say THIS IS WHY WE HAVE DUE PROCESS.

AP is banned by Trump from WH pool, while this is happening:

Right-wing YouTuber Tim Pool has made it to the White House pool — someone from his “Timcast” channel will be part of today’s pool duty covering the president. Last year, DOJ revealed Pool was receiving millions of dollars from the Russian gov. Pool says he didn’t know where it was coming from.

This is a very important point. Breathlessly vague headlines and summaries of these executive orders created for the executive powers it does not have. This kind of press contributed to authoritarian regime change.

“sell your product at a loss, or else” was probably not what the business people were expecting from President Business

They’ll never accept it, but everyone who cast a vote for Donald Trump did real, generations-long damage to the United States and the west in exchange for essentially nothing of value.

A new Trump EO attacks a Smithsonian exhibit for saying that “societies including the United States have used race to establish and maintain systems of power, privilege, and disenfranchisement.” But however displeasing to MAGA, that statement is factually correct. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

NEW: The Trump administration pulled funding for research to protect pregnant women from domestic violence, citing it as a “DEI” initiative.

I wrote for MSNBC about the grotesque irony of Trump stripping due process from innocent people while he himself gleefully exploits it to evade criminal accountability. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

"Creating a ruckus" is his euphemism for wrote an op-ed in a newspaper. The Constitution protects all people under U.S. jurisdiction (not just citizens) from government actions penalizing them for speech, use of the free press, or peaceful assembly.
