I guess I don't think these are "bribes" in the narrow technical legal sense, but they are obviously bribes in our lay understanding of the word. We'll give you $100 million in free services if you don't come after our firm. It's pure extortion - complete with a price tag!

I remember an interview when asked about retribution, Trump said, "No, but I would have every right to."
He's not going to stop until we stop him.
Wonder how this shakes out?
The overt appearance of malfeasance should be as bad as actual, no?
Joey will drop by every Monday n pick up the house 30% share, you can stay in business n the house gets a taste.
Maybe these firms should pull a Trump and:
1. Delay, delay, delay on any work.
2. Place incompetents in charge of work.
3. Delay some more.
4. Complain loudly about the unfairness of the work.
5. Overcharge for the work done.
6. Do a victory lap about the success of the work.

This Politico article from earlier today is illuminating, if further disillusioning:

This is obeying:
"The firm looks forward to having a constructive relationship with the Trump Administration"
there's no smoking bag of cash a priori.
the payoff comes after.
thank you, Roberts, Alito, and Clearance Thomas.
corruption by any other name.
that's all they understand
Perhaps we need better laws that prevent Republican people like The Felon or Musk from doing stuff like this?
Leaving a choice for the client. Keep your government contracts and get a new firm or keep the firm and lose your contracts.
These "deals" are strictly to give Trump bragging rights.
This is just like Trump's mineral del with Ukraine. It never existed. He just wanted to use it as trolling bait online. That's always Trump's motivation. Always.
And those can be state charges not just federal charges!
He should have made them sign a minerals deal!
So he could then drill, baby, drill even more deeply into their “silver coins”reserve!
Freakin’ Kakistocrats!😡
Instead we have another instance of apparently successful inducement by Trump
John T Noonan, Jr, Bribes
Pretty sure the training would say that's a no no
And you can replace "law firm" with "university" or "business" or anything else he wants to control.
