These are all excellent questions. Are reporters waiting to put the answers in their next book? Or is no one investigating something that should be getting a lot of investigation??

Same

The effects of this massive layoff have barely even begun. I don't think anyone understands how many corners of our lives the federal government takes care of without our realizing it. As this rolls on, will be watching to see how much destruction it causes.

Trump has been president for 21 days as of noon. He has spent all or part of 10 of those days at properties he owns, businesses where he often interacts with his private customers. He has played golf on at least five of those days.

Honest journalism would report these statements as "Collins Supports RFK And Trump's NIH Cuts" instead of knowingly and dishonestly framing her as a hero who objects to something bad while acting, knowingly and repeatedly, to make the bad thing happen (as if she hasn't been doing this since 2017)

Excuse me while I vent for a moment SHE IS THE APPROPRIATIONS CHAIR. SHE CAN SUBPOENA OFFICIALS, HOLD TELEVISED HEARINGS, HOLD UP ANYONE’S FUNDING, ZERO OUT THE WHITE HOUSE’S FUCKING ICE CREAM AND DIET COKE BUDGET, AND ENFORCE THE APPROPRIATIONS LAWS THAT ARE THE SOURCE OF HER PERSONAL POWER.

the president claiming that he has time to run the Kennedy Center makes it clear that he's not really the president anymore.

YES YES YES

US journalists refuse to cover dems when they are out of power even as they justify disproportionately covering republicans when they are out. Long been the case. Sucks but it just means dems need to create more spectacle

HAPPY FIFTH ANNIVERSARY to Susan Collins saying Trump learned a “pretty big lesson” from his first impeachment. thehill.com/homenews/sen...

Not only did Trump not release more water that would be useful to firefighters in LA, the water he did release was actually reserved for central valley farmers (who mostly voted for Trump) and will now go to waste instead of their farms.

this is genuinely excellent all around - what they're doing, what they're saying keep yelling at them, it's working, today's Dem response is markedly better than anything they did last week and yell at the @nytimes.com @cnn.com and the rest of the media to actually cover it

People have gathered outside USAID HQ for press event with Democratic Congressmen Beyer, Raskin, Connolly and Olzewski and Senator Van Hollen where they're addressing the building's mysterious shutdown today in the midst of the Trump admin dismantling the agency. (Photos shared with me)

NOPE.

They’re letting “housekeeping” in, to clean up from their sleepover party.

The richest man in the world has taken over the US government and his first order of business is taking revenge for the fall of apartheid in South Africa www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

USAID itself is plenty important, but this isn't something they do one time and then forget they got away with it. This is absolutely a trial balloon for the power to shut down anything they want on their own pure whim, laws be damned. This is a coup power play much bigger than USAID.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran. Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

Today is Retraction Day, when we observe the anniversary of the retraction (Feb. 2, 2010) of the fraudulent paper that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. 🧪#medsky

Well dang, I really wanted it to be Wikler. Let's hope this guy has the same fire in his belly to fight. We don't need any more middle-of-the-road Dems.

hey question, is this bad?

It's not a "viable political message" but it's just always been the simple truth: Trump is a moron surrounded by insane people and is going to badly damage the country

This is very bad

Funny detail: the TRO only applies to the plaintiffs (23 Dem-led states), so GOP-led states get to find out what having the federal taps turn off feel like first.

This is a hostile takeover of the federal government by a private citizen of unlimited means with no restrictions and no transparency. Welcome to the Deep State www.reuters.com/world/us/mus...

Bill, as we'd expect from a potent political adversary in the 80s, 90s and aughts has a good grasp of how you frame the big picture.

This is leadership.

The executive orders have a weird way of hacking media attention. They contain nothing of substance but the media covers them because they're easy. We need the media to do the much harder work of sorting out what's actually going on in the actual agencies

a very key thing about Donald Trump is that he cannot perform the symbolic roles of the presidency even a little bit.

Oh god an entire family. Gone.

That was I think the single worst, more vile, most Nazi speech that Trump has ever given. In the wake of a tragedy involving the military, federal employees, and 67 people killed. Just appalling. I leave it to historians to say which speech from the 1930s it most resembles but truly truly shocking

the headline is not “trump blames deadly plane crash on DEI” but “trump seizes on deadly plane crash to attack minorities”

Only a fucking monster would say this as bodies are being recovered.

Jesus.
