Eden Street has been reopened after footway works, removal of the pedestrian refuge, and carriageway resurfacing.

Bus services in Kingston still being hammered by the lane closures on the one way system. No progress update from council, so not sure if there's been much any creative thinking to mitigate the problem (for example traffic wardens directing traffic &/or temporarily making Birkenhead Avenue one way)?

Some years ago (20?), this mural depicting a bleak future with more road traffic alongside a bright future with less traffic was painted on the railway bridge at Malden Manor. Official stats show a reduction in traffic, but there's still lots of congestion.

Plans for a new Church of England secondary school at Kingsmeadow in Kingston look to be hanging in the balance, as the Dept for Education reviews the project. Full story: thekingstonecho.substack.com/p/kingstons-...

The coronation stone displayed in Kingston upon Thames, location of many Saxon coronations. This sarsen stone recovered from the ruins of St Mary’s church, which collapsed in 1730. Possibly wishful thinking to call it the coronation stone, but you never know 🤷‍♀️ #kingston #anglosaxon #saxon #saxonking

We've learned that the "Urban Innovation Company" has applied to plant an electronic advertising sign outside the Rotunda in the shared pedestrian/cycling area. The council rejected their application, but UIC are appealing that decision. acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?…

Kingston councillors are due to discuss plans on Tuesday for two blocks, 15 and 12 storeys high, on the Canbury Place Car Park/Kingsgate Road site. Here's a guide to the plan, its history & reaction to it. Rather than a (very) long thread, its on substack/email: open.substack.com/pub/thekings...

Kingston councillors have approved a further stage of the 'trial' of making Kings Road and New Road one way. This next stage will see right turn off Kingston Hill down Crescent Road banned (some residents will be exempt) to see if that reduces through traffic.

An interesting looking new shop - vintage, antiques and curiosities - has opened on Kingston's Park Road.

Three petitions seek traffic restrictions on Manorgate Road, Wolverton Avenue & Brunswick Road. Kingston Council's joint response to them is that they'd need to investigate the impact of rerouting traffic, but there's currently no budget, so they're not doing it (though may be able to in future)

North Kingston traffic news: Council officers want to extend the one-way traffic trial for Kings Road/New Road for six more months, but this time also stopping traffic turning right down Crescent Road from Kingston Hill. Full recommendations here: moderngov.kingston.gov.uk/ieListDocume...
