I just tested this, and finishing the book updated my streak for the day. Feel free to contact support if you'd like us to investigate!

The StoryGraph link doesn't work. Here's a good one!

It will not only stay optional, it will stay opt-in.
It's self-hosted, so your data isn't going anywhere (not ChatGPT or any external service), and opt-in so you'll only see it if you explicitly choose to.
I haven't seen anyone else doing AI like this, and it will not change.

The Personalized Preview used to only give positive recs. I wasn't comfortable letting an AI say that you *wouldn't* like something.
The overwhelming feedback we received is that this makes the feature a lot less useful. So I've been working hard to add negativity in a way that's actually helpful.

There is now a "Use Phone Camera" button when using the scanner. Let me know if that works better for you!

This has been challenging, as different phones respond differently to the same code. We might have an update tomorrow that fixes this. Will let you know when it's ready to try!

Hang in there, it should be much faster in the next few days!

It appears that some ISPs have been blocking Cloudflare, which makes it appear like we've gone down. Our servers are up and running. Trying a different network (mobile data for example) usually allows you to connect again.

I've been informed that Movistar, 02, and possibly other ISPs in Spain are blocking Cloudflare whenever there are La Liga matches. StoryGraph uses Cloudflare, so we are blocked too.
It should be up again for you soon!

It's free for everyone! If you don't see it, you can turn it on by clicking the icon on the top right > Preferences > StoryGraph Preview, then click Update at the bottom to save.

It sounds like you're talking about the Recommendations page. The StoryGraph Preview and Personalized Preview are on the book page.

It's opt-in. If you don't explicitly turn it on, you will never see it.

We're getting reports that some people in Spain are unable to connect. If you're in Spain, we think it's a local ISP issue, and expect it to start working again soon.

Check out my videos here if you want to learn more about how, and why we use AI for the preview feature:

The preview is opt-in, it's off by default.

Please share a book title you've added that isn't showing up in search, and I'll investigate!
Note, since you're the author, adding books via the manual form is best:

Anyone can add any amount of books to StoryGraph. There is no fee.

Does switching networks (turning off wifi and using mobile data for example) help?

Regarding the environmental impact: All recommendations, across all users, is being handled by a single server, which doesn’t consume any more power than a standard gaming PC/console.

It's opt-in. If you don't explicitly ask for book recommendations, you'll never get them.

I see you found the option, but to be clear, it's not an "opt-out", it's an "opt-in".
The StoryGraph Preview feature is opt-in and off by default. You will only ever see it on your account if you've explicitly turned it on, and we will *never* force it on anyone who hasn't manually turned it on.

The StoryGraph Preview feature is opt-in and off by default. You can turn it back off on the first pane of the preferences page if you'd rather not see it!

You can do that with tags! You can view your tagged books on your profile page, and even turn them into shareable lists.

Send me an author-approved preview for your book, highlighting the type of reader your book is best suited for, and I'll replace the AI Preview with yours.

There was a bug in the iOS version. The update is now live! Update the app in the App Store and you'll be able to mark as Finished.

Sorry about that! We've already submitted the fix to the App Store, and are waiting for it to be approved. In the meantime you can directly mark the book as "Read", or use app.thestorygraph.com in your browser to work around that.
