I see Doug Walker still living rent free in your head

The thing you are describing are outliers and they apply to pretty much any statement you can make about biology. "Humans have two kidneys (except for the outliers)." "Mammals have hair (except for the outliers)." "Biological sex is binary (except for the outliers)."

That's because no one has had any fun making a marvel movie in the past 10 years

Children are human beings with agency

You say she's being sold off, but tbf, there are multiple times in this season and the last where Mon Mothma is like "I don't like old traditions of my planet, I don't want you to do this, you don't have to this" and her daughter is just like "fuck you mom, I'm gonna be a tradwife"

I will say the voiceover we've heard from Murderbot has definitely made it sound way too expressive and human. I was going to say that kind of perfectly flat affect might be impossible for an actor to pull off successfully, but that would be disrespecting the great Brent Spiner

And when you think about it, 'generic white guy' is obviously going to be what a faceless evil corporate entity wants its security to look like

Honestly, I think that's true of a lot of anime

Holy shit I have literally never seen anyone who has heard of Guster outside of my immediate family

All the best who would win posts are the obvious shitposts that everyone plays along and takes dead seriously

And has been smart enough to keep his mouth shut about the things he actually thinks

If I'm remembering right, I heard that Pewdiepie had moved to Japan and was getting really in shape? Which sounds to me like one of those alt right dudes who likes Japan because they think of it as an ethnostate (there's not a lot of brown people) and has been getting really into Yukio Mishima.

The manga just ended and apparently it sucks ass

Honestly, with the amount of people I see saying "i quit my job to work on my game full time!" i think more people should tell aspiring game devs they need to have a day job so they don't end up betting their livelihood on spitting some game out on steam and hoping it blows up

I have strong opinions on both visual novels and categorization

Lots of people are disagreeing with you on this one, but I'm just here to say that you are completely right and I am willing to die on this hill next to you

God I wish men wrote porn like that. In my experience it's mostly "Bob was the only man at Sex University, where all the teachers and students were going to fall madly in love with him"
comment in response to post
How many tiktoker teens do you think are gonna fall for it?

Buddy, all of those things existed fine before TikTok
comment in response to post
People learned about science and made money via the internet and became leftists and found communities and recommended each other books and music just fine 10 years ago. All of that is not gonna stop just because one app went away.
comment in response to post
Like, you get how that's a bad thing, right? It's good that people can't let this app do all the thinking for them anymore. And the fact that people seem to think there's no viable alternative to anything TikTok provided is just proof of their over-reliance on it.
comment in response to post
If you don't think you can find disagreements to journal articles and books, that just means you don't know how to do research.
comment in response to post
I had no problem following what was going on in Gaza despite never having touched TikTok. Of course if people relied on it for everything then that's how they would get news. That does not mean there is any inherent value or no alternatives to what it provided

This is the website that makes you old. Like that beach.
comment in response to post
Right? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Didn't we all spend the last five years talking about how toxic and awful the culture of TikTok was? Now all of a sudden its "Oh no, poor TikTok! What will people do without the algorithm feeding them funny videos and lies about medicine and body language?"

Instead of learning a whole different language, have you considered logging off?

that you can point out the window and go "yeah, it's probably like that." The whole game is like that. Setting and worldbuilding are just means to an end that need to exist to support the political and personal themes
comment in response to post
The Coalition is not a deeply thought out setting or a creatively crafted political entity. They're a generic world superpower that represents the forces of liberal capitalism that the game actually wants to explore. They're only fleshed out insomuch as it's SO similar to the real world...
comment in response to post
It's not that the worldbuilding itself is so very creative and unique because it's tied in with the story and characters, its that the game is making excellent thematic use of a mostly unoriginal setting.
comment in response to post
And given the devs' background, don't you think it would be more accurate to say that the protagonist's personal story and themes were crafted around the elements of the setting that already existed and their own feelings about the real world politics and history of where they live?
comment in response to post
The Pale is definitely unique and thematic, yes, but the game is not about how the Pale reflects Harry's loss of memory and identity. You don't really interact with it at all, you learn about in conversation and go, "oh interesting" and get back to solving a mystery in post-Soviet eastern europe
comment in response to post
Of course it's worth having, your argument just sucks. You're the one making subjective points. The worldbuliding is DE is better than the other examples because...? Still waiting for you to make any other specific point beyond "setting good, history good, cosmology good"
comment in response to post
Like I said before, what I'm talking about is 99% of the game. I'm sure you could take literally any fictional setting and find specific details that are totally unique to them. Lore snippets that come up in conversation with one npc do not a setting make
comment in response to post
My point is that fans of things think their thing is the best. "you're not giving it enough credit" "it feels like you're living there" "more interesting/unique than most" are all totally subjective and are things that a fan of mass effect could say about that series over Disco Elysium
comment in response to post
And I'm sure the hardcore fans of mass effect would say the same thing about all the lore details in those games. Let's face it, a setting where communist groups in not-eastern europe are defeated by a bunch of centrist "moralist" nations is not exactly screaming "whoa how'd they come up with that"
