Worst. Episode. EVER.

So. It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year. I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

When FAA employees are telling us it’s not safe to fly, we should probably listen.

My friends in public sector are being laid off, are scared of being laid off, or just lost their pathway into public sector via PMF. My heart breaks for them. Trump supporters in my life are being so callous. They show empathy but then add caveats. You’re not empathetic if you add a caveat.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

Even though Rubio promised life-saving aid wouldn't be interrupted, it has essentially been halted worldwide, interrupting HIV and TB treatment and threatening millions of lives. People are dying today because of these chaotic, inconsistent stop work orders. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Imagine the bliss someone must feel by not being extremely online. Just totally oblivious. Maybe they’re eating a chip

Some fun facts that somebody running the country should know about but doesn’t.

From Reddit, an email sent out from one employee to ALL EEOC employees. Thank you for holding the line, I hope more follow suit across all government orgs.

DEI programs were created to give everyone who meet objective standards a fair shot at serving our country. Diversity has changed America for the BETTER. Rolling back these programs and offices with an executive order is completely disgraceful. www.cnn.com/2025/01/21/p...

Republicans at risk of being “primaried” by Trump and his billionaire goon squad should work with Dems to pass legislation that blocks unlimited funding to campaigns and ends super pacs. Fuck Citizens United, its consequences should end here.

As #Severance s2 finally streams tonight, I just wanted to say thanks to all the incredible fans who have waited so long and stuck with us. Our hope is you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. It’s never finished till you engage with it. So excited for the dialogue to begin. Praise Kier

My uncle’s husband worked for RFK and called him “the dumbest person he ever met” and an “absolute horror to work with” when I saw him at Christmas and I wish I pressed for more detailed stories but damn was he serious as hell when he said it.

The issue isn’t whether Universal Healthcare can work. The issue is how do we get from where we are to UH. It took Canada decades and it has a ton of limits we might not like. The point being we have to find a starting point that can grow it into what works here www.canada.ca/en/health-ca...

57 companies are responsible for 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions since 2016. These companies include fossil fuel giants like Chevron, Shell, and BP, who have been raking in record profits. The profits of Big Oil should not be more important than the future of our planet.

Just a small reminder there was never a time in US history where the government stoked mass hysteria over far right, fascist values that led to scapegoating, arrests, and people losing their elected positions, unlike what we saw with the Red Scare attacking the left, and I think that is significant.

I want to see Libs appropriate the term “pro life” in 2025. More gov assistance for single parents, free meals at school, more resources for social workers and the foster system, give out those lovely care packages Scotland and other nations give expecting mothers with necessities, no death penalty

I wish politicians talked less about immigrants and more about trains. With high speed rails, we would >create long lasting - high skill jobs >ease the burden on airports >generate revenue for government >increase tourism in the US (both foreign and domestic) >create more train enthusiasts
