Similar things. I also replaced my old tv and laptop. I need to replace my car soon but that's just not in the budget. I'd stock up on good imported chocolate but I can't stop eating it if it's in the house!

Seriously. I stocked up on toilet paper and other things in January and February of 2020 (though I thought the pandemic would only last a few months). This time around, I've been strategically purchasing some items (not prepper level) since the election.

The deviousness with which the Project 2025 minions thought through ways to destroy services and programs for the average American is astounding. Soon people will be cut off from aid or suffer other injustices and there also will be no one in the relevant gov't dept. to call for help.

Everything handed over to the government should be "pre-filtered" to remove all the offending words they don't like. Why be forthcoming with malicious actors? Play the game.

He could do something similar to what Putin did - take some other position in government, with a lackey as president, and maintain his hold on the Republican party.
