are folks unaware of how difficult it is for indie authors to get indie bookshops to even touch their books? indie bookshops sell mostly trad books. so telling an indie author to ‘sell in an indie bookshop’ is kinda frustrating when they often decline to stock anything not trad or successful.

#WSPitW BONESwip: Ari needs a compelling thesis in order to graduate from the Academy of bone magic, but when his research hits a dead end, he resorts to methods the Academy definitely wouldn't approve of: blackmailing the ghost of his thesis' subject. Of course, things go horribly wrong.

Writing advice has the same issue as generalisations tbh. I see sooooo many people saying ‘you have to do this’ or ‘all fantasy writers do that’ and I’m usually like, ‘that could not apply to me less’. Honestly I wish people would stop forthrightly assuming what works for them works for everyone 🙈
