are folks unaware of how difficult it is for indie authors to get indie bookshops to even touch their books? indie bookshops sell mostly trad books. so telling an indie author to ‘sell in an indie bookshop’ is kinda frustrating when they often decline to stock anything not trad or successful.

Writing advice has the same issue as generalisations tbh. I see sooooo many people saying ‘you have to do this’ or ‘all fantasy writers do that’ and I’m usually like, ‘that could not apply to me less’. Honestly I wish people would stop forthrightly assuming what works for them works for everyone 🙈
